Looking for a Brug

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

All this talk of Brugs is peaking my curiosity. I've never seen one in real life but the pics sure look intriguing. I was thinking our local Botanical Garden should have one (we have two descent sized greenhouses). I've never seen a local source for them. Do you grow them from seed or cuttings (or both)? I guess the next question is, is there any anyone who would have seeds or a cutting to spare so I might try one? I hope I am not being to forward in making this request here.

Todd, you're not being too forward at all. I bet you'd be the only perosn or the botanical gardens would be the only place in NF tht would have brugs. Some how I think though that you'd be the idea person to get this started there. You know they are considered semi tropical... I just trimmed the suckers (called sproats) form my whiskers. A good growing yellow brug that has a great fragrance. When they are getting there nubbies, the white pre root things on the stalk, I will send you a couple. That would be your best bet for getting flowers this year, albeit later. I don't have any seeds at the moment, I've just planted them and am waiting impatiently for them to come up. this is the plant i took the suckers from.

That would be great beginning Linda....drop me a line when they are ready and find out how much it would cost to send them expediated and I'll reimburse you. I think they would be a great addition to the botanical garden greenhouse. I guess we could put them outdoors during July and August (in a sheltered site).

Todd, I have seeds if you'd like to try some of them. Email me.

Todd, Jeanne would be a wonderful contributor of seeds for your new quest. Take advantage.

I have indeed. Jeanne has been most generous. I'm looking forward to becoming part of the Brug-craze!

LOL Todd, most of us would have spelled it Brug-crazY LOL

I'll pop them in the mail today. Enjoy Todd.

I'm whining here. We have horrible winds. I have 10 foot plus brugs shredded by the wind, my nanas are all shredded and a mess, there are plants laying everywhere. It's a huge mess and I'm off to Denman Island to rip out carpets. I guess when I get back tomorrow I'll try and clean up the mess before I leave again. There was lightening last night too, pretty wild weather, I'll be glad when its gone.
