and we are on our way out the door for sushi sushi. But I wanted to post Rosamond, glorious as always!!! Look at the tendrils on that chick!! My yard is looking like a brugfest.
My kid just got home
Wow...have fun!
Happy days are here again!! I'd like to steal your Rosamond while you are at the sushi bar...
Sherry....I could do it....not that far away!!!
kell, have fun with your baby!!!
Happy days are here again! Bet you couldn't stop hugging him!! Rosamond is blooming in his honor and she's puttin' on quite a show! Is that Golden Lady blooming behind her? Just gorgeous!!
Ya got a black suburban, Marg??!! I love CA, maybe I could fly out and help you, I'll bet we could pull it off, lol...
Have a great time tonight Kell. What a great shot!
I love Sushi! Yum! Rosamond is yum too:-)
I just bought my first Rosamond this year and am interested in seeing her flower next to Pink Beauty for comparison. I have heard they are much the same, but Rosamond a little larger?
I'm loving the Brugfest here! The three pinks - Rosamond, PB, and Rosa Traum with her subtle creamy pink, all have half a dozen blossoms, and fill my heart with joy!
Delisa...I just had PB and Rosamond bloom at the same time...a bloom fell off of each in the wind and I had them in glasses on my table labeled to see the difference. The Rosamond was just alittle bit larger...and not quite as dark a pink. She also seemed to fade to a lighter color as she was dying. Other than the clayxs being different...I thought they looked very much the same...both beautiful though.
Margie
Delisa, I have a Pink Beauty and a Rosamond, who are next door neighbors. They vie for biggest and bestest and IMO they are both just wonderful. Both girls wintered outside so I don't have buds yet, but they are both very green and healthy, so I have my fingers crossed. I have some PB and Rosamond crosses, seedlings and, wow, they are really promising...
I can just imagine how good your yard must smell, Kell. All of those Brugs all blooming at once!
Actually Karrie it can get overpowering. Some brug scents I do not like. Shirley, yes that big one is Golden Lady. She has gone nuts in flowering. I should be pollinating also but I haven't for some reason!! I am about to cut her way back.
Sherry, this Rosamond is huge. I do not think you could get her out of the ground. LOL but I wish you would. I have another brug I want to go there now and I am afraid to ask Tom to dig her out.
Delisa, you will love them both though I think Rosmond in my yard is bigger. I have PB now planted in the ground for its second year, it will make a more fair comparison. It was opening some blooms last night, I noticed as I drove past.
So Margie, what is the difference with the calyx between PB and Rosaond?
Sushi was great last night and the kid is great also. I love him to pieces. He is actually going to cook me a special dinner tomorrow for Mother's Day. It will be the 4th one he has cooked in his life he tells me. I can't wait. We were such bad parents, we never taught him how to cook or clean. I can't wait to see this. LOL
The PB has just one slit...and Rosemond about 5 slits...although I am glad you asked because yesterday while I was examining my PB...on one branch the calyx had the one split and on the other branch, which seems to be connected at the root, the calyx has the 5 splits!!! I took a photo of it...
I said to myself...Margie, you have too much time on your hands to spend with these brugs! Give it a break! I am acting like a mother with an only child! (having had 4...I can say this...my DH was an only child...I was one of four and could readily see the difference)
So, what do you make of the differences in the different branches? Is that a usual thing to happen? Don't make me spend the day trying to find out on my other brugs, please!
This is the one with 5 slits on PB...
LOL Margie. I have no clue. Sure is from same rootball. So the whole branch has 5 splits or just 1 bloom? Maybe you have a not so exciting sport. LOL
I will check out the splits on my Rosamond and PB as soon as I get moving. THANKS
Surely, I would have noticed if my PB had five spits in her calyx! Maybe not. But, I don't think I've never seen one like yours Margie, surely, as anal as I am, I would have noticed. Clare, you mentioned a PB hybrid - I've seen that mentioned with other brugs and I don't quite understand what that means - a Pink Beauty hybrid. I though a PB was a hybrid. I've had a long day, local festival day and a pool full of Goldens and grands and guests, whew...

Some of the flowers fell off...but yesterday when they were all there, I noticed that it was all of the blossoms on one stem had the 5 slits and all of the blossoms on the other had the one...I will check again as I get more blooms!
Sherry, you are right that Pink Beauty is a hybrid and a registered cultivar. I mean that someone took seeds from Pink Beauty and sowed them and got yours. It's a long shot. I had seeds on my Pink Beauty a couple of years ago, and I sowed about 40 seeds. I gave away all but two of them. One is about to blooms so I guess I'll find out soon what this Pink Beauty hybrid will look like. I'll check my PB tree too for ones with multi-split calyxs.
Edited to fix spelling:-)

hmm Kell. Maybe you could advertize Rosamond in the paper..free to whomever is willing to come dig her out (with supervision of course)
Kell, I thought Rosamond was one of your very favorites. I guess there are others that you now favor over her and are more deserving of the limited ground space that you have. Still can't believe that you would get rid of her.
