I have a H. pubycalyx 'Pink Silver' that has grown like crazy this winter. It is twisting all around the stand I have it on. I think there must be 4 or 5 branches that are over 8' long. I've only had it a year and it hasn't bloomed, yet.
So....It's time to take it outside for the summer and I'm not sure what to do with it. I think it needs to be trimmed, but I'm not really sure. I would like for it to fill out a bit.
Any suggestions?
Do Hoyas need trimming?
Those long bald vines are where the flowers will appear...followed by leaves filling it out. If it is going outside it may bloom...and you could "trim" it in the fall when you bring it back indoors. Cutting off the vines will insure that you won't see flowers.

oooooh! thank you. Sheesh, I'm glad I asked before cutting! Boy, this thing is huge. I don't know quite what I'm going to do with it! :)
ENJOY it!!!
