I'm about to start in trying to make my yard more to the DH's and I taste and one of the plants I've seen that I've fallen in love with is the Japanese Silver Grass. I know it grows in our zone but someone brought up the fact that with our heat we might have a problem with it reseeding. Does anyone have any JSG? If so can you tell me a little bit about it from a Texan's point of view.
Thanks

Japanese Silver Grass
I have never grown it so I am sorry that I am unable to assist you from personal knowledge. Perhaps there is a type that has sterile seeds. From what I have read, some forms reseed in irrigated gardens and it is advised that they should not be planted near natural wetlands where they can become weeds if there is enough moisture available. Hopefully, someone else has grown this plant and is willing to share the information that you seek.

This is the Silver Grass that we have by our pond. It is now 4 years old, and comes back every year. No reseeding, it comes back from the base. We cut the brown fronds off in February, as we love the winter interest that it gives, and new shoots follow in just a few weeks!
