I received my Retusa today!!
My word, girl!!! I did not even know they grew that big!!! That is absolutely wonderful and I think I heard you scream when you got it yesterday! :)
I thought the same thing when I saw the photo and before I read Mel's post! That is a substantial sized H. retusa. Hope it does well for you Awanda!
Wow nice. This is a rare beauty and you got a lot of it. Mine is growing along but slow. It will be five more years before it gets that big. That is if I don't kill it....."(
Hi y'all just wondering why this hoya is rare? Is it not commerically sold? A little aside, thanks for the pumice Awanda!!

Hi Heather, it's a hard hoya to find and especially this size and it's not sold commercially:-). The plant manager at Home Depot is truly a plant-a-holic and has become a good friend. I asked him to see if he could locate a retusa, microphylla and a couple of more hard to find hoyas for me. Well he located the retusa, and thinks he might be able to locate some of the others for me. He has LOTS of plant connections. How is the pumice working for you or have you used it yet? What are you going to use it for?
Blessings,
Awanda
Awanda, I am making up some new mix, and I thought I would give the pumice a whirl. It sounds to me like you can use it with perlite to make it better aerated. Do you have any other suggestions for it. I'm a little worried about making my own mix now, I don't understand all of the scientific's of macro/micro nutrients. I'm thinking about tryinig to just find a commecial soil less mix and stick with it. Did you have hanging baskets before on your web page? I can't remember where I got those, they were the perfect size, 4" hanging baskets. Thanks!!
Heather
