Welcome to zarcanat from Montreal

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Glad you are joining this happy group of Dave's Gardeners. I understand by your message that you are studying Horticulture and in particular are interested in plants and flowers that attract Butterflies and Hummers. This summer, I planted a few that were designated to attract Butterflies and Hummers, so I'll sure let you know what I find out too. Stop in and tell us about yourself. I am sure you can share some very interesting information with us. Looking forward to it.

Hello, I am happy to be welcomed like this, sorry it took me a long time to find out about the Canadian part of the site.
I think I am gona love this! I even received my first seeds yesterday from argentina, thanks to Ivanito.
This summer, I will be mainly trying fuchsias and hibiscus varieties. If they work great, back at school, I will make small trees of them and try to grow them different ways.

See ya

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Glad to see you found us Zarcanat! Ü

Which varieties of Hibiscus are you growing?

Montreal, QC(Zone 4b)

Hibiscus acetosella
H. coccinea
H. cannabinus (not sure about ID, they have small thorns)
H. sabdariffa
and I might get old of H. abelmoschus manihot seeds

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Sounds like interesting work (and pleasure), zarcanat. I hope you'll keep us posted on your experiments. I will be watching to see how you make out with your Hibiscus as I too, am trying to grow them from seed this year. And Fushia...well, let's just say, they just don't like me! :(

Photos are always welcome here too. :Donna

Do you have a digital camera Zarcanat??? :)

Montreal, QC(Zone 4b)

Yep, I think I'll better take some pics if I want to get friends ;-))

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

LOLOLOL.......it will save you from being bugged an awful lot anyways! ;)

Are you near the Old Section of Montreal??? :)

Montreal, QC(Zone 4b)

I guess you mean downtown, not really but it is not a long drive, about 20 minutes.
I just love to go to the chinatown, especially on sunday noon, they have what they call Dim Sums which is kind of a Brunch. It is so great, lots of small 'wagons' between the tables with all different meals and it is so afordable and delicious!!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Please, oh please, bring your camera with you next time! I love Chinese food too so will have to head off to Regina next Tuesday so I won't feel as bad. ;)

I will try to remember. Last time, 2 weeks ago, I went with my aunt and it was her first time, she just loved everything but she couldn't even consider trying fried shrimps in their shells, hum yummi garlicky! crunchy!

I just want to try something, if it works, you will see Cactus, he has been adopted last summer but was my friend for a time.

Zarcanat your description of China Town's delicious shrimp sent me to Regina today. We attended the Folk Festival there and they served wonderful cajan shrimp. :) Finding it there was such a surprise! Ü

Like Montreal tents were also set up (we did have rain.....but here it is needed). The street was narrow and much more crowded with peeps. Montreal's coordination of tent color really had a much classier look.

We also stopped at a garden center and this beauty (the gong) caught my eye....but was unfortunately out of my pocket book range. :(
