Passiflora parritae

Brookeville, MD(Zone 7a)

Okay, who has one? When will we see pictures?!

San Diego, CA

Well, I have one but it isn't in the ground yet. Once I find the right spot for it, and if it survives, I expect it to be 3 or 4 years until it blooms. It is about 5 feet tall right now. I do have pictures of the one at Strybing arboretum though.

REALLY???? Why so long until it blooms? I never knew a passionflower to take so long to bloom before.

Are the flowers really that orange it looked like?!

Well, the Parritae needs to grow very tall before it actually starts flowering. I have friends in the Bay area that have plants between 10 and 14 feet and not a single bud yet. So far, I haven't heard of anybody's plant blooming yet except for the one at Strybing.

I hope I can get one... I did some searching and found the person who is in charge of selling the place's plants.

I wish I lived in warm and sunny CA!

So, Michelle--did you get one?

Here's mine. An acquaintance who lives in SoCal was kind enough to pic me one up when they drove up to the UC Berkeley plant sale last month. I also recently picked up a P. membranacea.

Now I have to see if I can grow the darned things. This fall I'm going to plant both of them under some Pepper trees on the property.

HOLYCRAP! What an incredible Passiflora. I know nothing about it, I just now heard of it right here. Take a look at this link and these pics. It's incredible.

I must find me one of these babies.

JLD, notice the hand holding it in the pic? In some instances the blooms can get up to 10 inches in diameter.

WOW Ron, thanks for adding that info. That makes this even more incredible. Ever since finding this thread today I've been digging for info on it everywhere I can find a link via many search engines. Is it still considered the "most rare" of the passiflora's? Does anyone know if it is commercially available? I'm a pretty poor man trying to carve out a living on my SSD income but I would skip a few meals or whatever it took to get ahold of this baby or even some other new ones for my collection.
LOL it's kind funny how many good and bad things a man can find when hit with a challenge like paraplegia. If it weren't for breaking my back, I would of never taken up passion flowers or much gardening. There are many things I miss from before but so many wonderful things have become evident since, I wouldn't go back if I could.
Life sure is a trip isn't it? I never know where it takes me next, just as long as it doesn't leave me behind;)

Naw, I didn't get my baby yet. I keep forgetting to call. You'd think I'd call about something as important as this!!!
