Wilma
What is blooming in the Prairies??
Sounds like you are "lookin' good", Wilma. Please show us some pictures if you can. :)
The nanking cherries and edible honeysuckle are blossoming.
Apple and Plum trees, wood violets and trillium, as well as some of the ones listed above. Flowering Almond is finished (really looked very pretty this year).
Thanks for sharing the photos of your lovely Spring flowers, Susan and Wilma. Wilma, I brought a Fritillaria meleagris (Checkered Lily/Tulip) back from Victoria with me and it kept blooming for a couple weeks after I planted it in my garden. I just love them; can't wait to see blooms again next Spring.
oh Donna, you just made me laugh... is this the Fritillaria that I said had a womderufl smell and you took a big whiff of? remember that? LOL
Nice to see that spring is finally getting to he rest of the country.
I remember you punk'd me like that at Butchart Gardens, but be darned that I could remember which kind of flower it was. I mostly remember you nearly rolling on the grass laughing...you're the stinker! LOL

Saskatoons, plums, and red currants are in full bloom now. And I saw a wild strawberry blossom in the ditch the other day :)
this has been the best spring for tulips here, everyone's look terrific
the hostas are way up already and the prairie crocus have been blooming for 3 weeks
the apple and the almond have just finished; the lilacs are out even in my north facing yard
my irises on the east side of the house are awesome this year
the rhody and azaleas came thru the winter the best ever
strawberries have been blooming for 10 days now so we will have berries at the end of june for sure
will post pics sometime this week
Sounds like you are off to a good growing season, Lynn. Glad to hear your plants fended well over the winter, especially those Rhodies and Azaleas. You really MUST have a green thumb! :)
How's Ann? Are her New Zealand Flax plants growing well for her?
she has four flax divisions that are growing; one big one that looks like it might not make it
the black mondo grass (bought in on our nursery excursions) has been divided into 6 thriving plants - good buy at 12 bucks
just finished my new raised bed and relocating some of the perennials into it; now have to decide what other lovelies i can put in it.
Good luck with your raised bed, Lynn. If you are like me, I love a challenge like that. Moving and changing and trying to imagine how it may look down the road. My entire veggie garden is in 3 raised beds. Works great!
Say hello to Ann for me, and tell her how happy I am to hear most of her NZ Flax and the Black Mondo Grass have proven to be good investments. We'll have to compare photos at the end of this season to see how they both look.
Her daughter received a computer as a gift from Grandparents last month so I think high speed is in her future and then she will definitely be a subscriber to Dave's (and we can find even more ways to yak during the day and evening)
That would be great to have her join our group. Lord knows, we need more members from Northern Alberta.
