I have two young plants, a blue ginger and a Kahili Ginger that have been growing inside up until this year when I put them out.
I have kept them in shade and in moist soil but they still look like they're sun burnt some how. What will happen now? Will they just die or send up new healthy shoots or go dormant?? What do I do now, I'm puzzled. I NEVER have problems with my butterfly ginger which enjoys full, strong sun and neglect.
Will it fix it's self? Gingers
HI - they MAY be dying back...have they bloomed for you yet? Kahili produces flowers on new stalks. So does the blue, I believe...but if not cut back, they will put out new growth and bloom. Blue Ginger really isn't a ginger...it likes shade and lots of moisture. Be careful about using water (city) with chlorine.

We have well water, I wonder if there's too many minerals?
They haven't flowered yet but I was looking foward to some! I hope they just do what you said and put out healthier growth.
If the stalks continue to wane...try cutting them back and feeding them a good growth FERT. The Blue Ginger also likes a lot of Iron.

I stayed away from fertilizer so far but I did try superthrive to revive them. I'll try the fert.
