Why we should keep a seedling two years - #2

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

LAte last summer I was pleased to have an unnamed Brug seedling/cutting start budding like a bunch of bananas; it developed into lovely lime/orange blossoms I nicknamed Orange Custard, and sent to several folks to evaluate. Now that the parent has overwintered, and started blooming. I am amazed to see it is probably an ET cutting; they are so similar.
I thank those who are part of the process; perhaps they will add something
to this test, but I must apologize to all who were looking for a newby.
And we are wise to require a two year evaluation.

Very pretty, what is ET?

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

It is very pretty but I'm not familar with ET, except the movie character...

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

It's a pretty one. Nothing like the movie character "ET".

Whoops - it's EV - I've been thinking Eventide!
They are lovely colors, and a nice, compact shrub.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Poly, I think it is Eventide, Everlasting is pink and that one looks salmon. It looks great, mine hasn't flowered yet this year.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

That is really pretty!

Pollygardening,
ET or EV (I know there is threaqd somewhere that list initials, but don't remember where) that is a beautiful color. If you ever have extras, think of me, too.

WOW! I have one of these babies that is finally ready to step up in pot size. I was kind of bummed out when you informed me it was not evaluated yet as my experience with new hybrids in the past have been ugly disasters. I had so many last summer with hi hopes and after babying them for theentire season, I ended up with ugly, off white brugs that I didn't like. Finally a killer hybrid that I LOVE! Thanks so much for the cut and a picture to place it with. I sure hope it takes off fast.
All my brugs are so far behind this spring due to record breaking late freezes. I had all my plants all fat and hardened off ready for the summer then KABLAAM! 4 freezes, 2 days at a time and 2 weeks apart just screwed up all my plans/plants. Now all my brugs ar5e tall and spindly looking when they were super fat and stocky. My seedlings were just as good and are now stretched out and sun bleached. Many of them stretched out so far that they could no longer support their own wieght, fell over and died. I was on such a roll and had everything looking better than ever for getting a jump on the season. That's gardening though isn't it? I certainly learned my lession and will never get cocky like that(well not until next spring probably!), but it has always paid off over the last 7-8 years. WAAAH WAAH! LOL I gotta just get over this and quit whining so much, I'm making myself sick.LOLOL
Thanks;)

I still have a few cuttings from last fall that have been rooted for months and have not been potted - I won't have the space for them. I'll look into sharing with the four of you. I know I have some pinks - would you like a pink?
Will see if I have any ET -

So, what are you saying this brug is? I'm confused (and please type the name, not initials). At any rate, they color is great! I love the orange or orangey ones!

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

It is Eventide.

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Hi Polly I'd love to get a cutting of Eventide. Let me know if you want to trade? Thanks- Kristi

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

I love the color Polly. It's beautiful.
Is this a seedling that you grew and sent out to be evaluated or a cutting that you received?

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

It was a freebee plant that came unlabeled with my order from Calas Tropicals; I had ordered Eventide at the same time. The freebee bloomed a lovely solid orange last year - so I temp named it orange custard; however, this year, it has a very similar color to Eventide, so I assume that it is.
I sent several cuttings out to be evaluated.

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

Thanks, Pollygardening for clearing that up for me! I'm looking forward to blooms, as I have Eventide, too!

Olathe, KS(Zone 6a)

Well I just potted mineup to her summer pot. This should allow her to blast off I hope. My guage has always been my B. Charles Grimaldi, it has always been the first to bloom and even she is still looking sad from this horrid weather. Last month it was record breaking freezes and now its record breaking heat spells, go figure.
Hopefully Orange Custard will bless me with beautiful blooms like you've posted, I can't wait and I thank you again.

I hope she soars!
Mine are recovering from being planted in the garden; three days of good rains, and now we are ready for some sunshine.
Have the DH big 80th the 4th of July as my goal - but I still have a dozen plants to get out. Hoping for a patio jungle!
