New computer's too slow. Need help!

I had to replace my 3-year-old Gateway with a new eMachines computer. Same modem speed, but much slower at uploading and downloading pictures on DG site. Any solutions? Digital is not an option: I don't want to change my e-mail address and I don't want to spend $50 a month just to save a few minutes (or seconds in some cases).
