My Double White is planted amongst my Single Yellows and look what is budding on a double plant.
Cough Cough, have they been pollinating behind my back?
Think there has been some self pollinating going on
OH...the Trollops!! I would lock that Self Fertile up until she is at least 55 years old!!!
Think I'll throw a wireless color spy cam out there and catch them. Can't wait for it to open all the way.
I'm not sure i'm understanding your question. Are you even asking one? lol.
I have a candida double white that starts out yellow and then turns white.
If it was self pollinated, you would still have to wait for the pod to ripen, plant the seeds an then what you got. It wouldnt change the flower mid stream on you.
Which white is that? i love the trendils on it.
I haven't a clue which white it is, it was given to me as a gift and told it was a double white. If anyone can identify it I would be very appreciative. I had never noticed a bloom that was yellow before. Last year it was very white. It's probably just me not looking until they were open, or possibly earlier in the season. We have been cooler this year. But it is very yellow and a double. I'll throw up another photo as time goes on.
It's fun to see the finer points when you really have never noticed before. I have always just walked outside and said, "whoa, it smells so good the brugs must be blooming again" and looked. Since I have joined the forum and watched you all baby them from seed to bloom I have watched them a little closer.
I have one cutting that part is variegated and the other part isn't . I have never seen this before either. Just went out to take a picture, lol duh, hard to see when they are sleeping. Brought it in the house to snap the photo, guess it will wake up tomorrow and I'll try to take a better photo. Is this normal, 1/2 variegated?
Hi Buns! Whites and even pinks often start as yellow. Confusing I know!! Your white is so pretty!!
Your brug threw a sport, it mutated. Too cool!!! It looks like the sport is the variegated part since it is coming off the green leafed stem. Remember the name of this brug? You have a new brug there. Too cool. There was just a new pink flowered variegated sport that was started just like that. It is called Miners Claim and it was the rage around here a few weeks ago.
PS:
I just saw your last picture. We often call that a double stuffed white. LOL. Not a very scientific name. Does the inner skirt ever drop down?
LOL I'll have to keep watching it, I remember it just like that from last year, stuffed, but I was fooled by the yellow, I'll keep posting photos if it changes.
On the sport, will the different parts bloom different colors?
They can, but usually the bloom is the same, just the foliage is different. Do you know what plant this was supposed to be, or if the whole thing was variegated last year? Green branches on variegates are much more common than variegated branches on green plants. Are the leaves coming on any other branches variegated?
Cool!
Sorry, I don't remember what plant it came from, but I don't think it was variegated, I didn't have any large enough to make cuttings last year (that I remember).

We all want to see the flower on the variegated part, Buns. We are holding our breath. LOL. I f you decide to cut it off and grow it separately, try to leave a few nodes so you get another piece of it growing just in case the new cutting does not make it.
Here is another of my wierd brugs, I call it my Walkin Brug (a lot like a walking iris)
It is a lovely pink and I am going to try to make some trees out of the front one.
If anyone in the Houston area wants a big tall tree cutting to try, let me know I'll be happy to share.
No, I have no names on some of mine. I started out with, a yellow, a pink and a white and they are just as pretty and smell just as good without names. Even though I am starting to collect the named ones, I'll always love my originals. If anyone can identify my unnamed ones I'd love it.
I think I will leave the sport with it's mom for now unless you all think it would be better to separate it. Seems it is very happy and healthy the way it is. Let it grow up a bit then see.....What do you think?
Here it is awake and outside next to some of my favorite albutilons and crown of thorns and begonias, fushia and the icronian I got from Robyn and a double boganvilla in the background. I love the variegated albutilons, one is variegated with white (got from flowerjunkie) and one with variegated yellow/green leaves I think I got from Lynn.
But, back to brugmansias, the sport seems happy as it is right now, unless you all say it will explode or revert back I think I will leave it for now.
If you look way past the Iochroma (brugmansia cousin) and bunny in the foreground you will see that I also have huge Yellow Brugmansias (they are a very deep yellow, not blooming at the moment). I leave them bushy to shade the rabbits (Buns) in the background. I could also make some tree cuttings of those if anyone in the Houston Area wants to try to get a tree started. Just send me an IM and we'll get together.
Please excuse any misspelling , especially plant names, I'm just horrible about that.
your doing really good.. neat.. too. very lovely blooms, you have good starts going to.... blessings. Twyla
