Happy Hoyas blooming and getting ready to bloom!

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9a)

I have about 6 or 7 hoyas either blooming or getting ready to bloom:-). The picture is of Obovata. I have cv Christine, Metallica aka cv Noelle, Lacunosa, Longfolia, Sunrise and a couple more getting ready to bloom. Summer is here, it's supposed to be 108 by the weekend:-).

Lovely flowers on your Obovata, Awanda.

And Mel, what huge flowers! What is a big Mac?

2 years ago I got mad at my H. obovata because it never bloomed...I put her outside to climb up a tree (by gosh, I said, that'll teach HER a lesson). She is about 30' up this tree now...and blooming to beat the band...solid blooms...from 20 to 30 feet off the ground. At least one vine is hanging down so perhaps next year I can actually see them!!!

The only place I have ever seen "Big Mac" listed was from September Song Nursery. Is that by any chance where you got that one from Mel? I guess it is a cv of Macgillivrayii, huh?

Carol, I can only dream of seeing a hoya grow up a tree....what an incredible sight that must be...well, I guess with good binoculars...lol. Hopefully, the vine will climb back down for you to see the lovely flowers close up.

Sorry to mislead you, Marcy. It is a H. macgillivrayii.

Mel, you have the same twin wall polycarb that I have! But my H macgillivrayii doesn't have anything except a couple of new leaves.

It is so funny! I have the same H. macgillivrayi I have had for the past 2.5 years. It has put out 2 nodes. The first node did nothing but bloom...until I cut off the peduncle. Now it has bloomed consistently from the same peduncle at the 2nd node for a year. Time to cut THAT out.

Alas...we have hijacked the thread.... it is not about MY plants...and Awanda's plants are awesome!!!

Susan, it is just slow to get started, but, once it flowers, it does not know when to quit. This is my third flush of blooms this year, but, I seriously thought I would never see a flower.

And yes, Awanda has the magic touch with Hoyas.
