She is literally covered in blooms.
Golden Lady is going nuts!!
Beautiful! Isn't this a wonderful time of year...seeing all the blossoms after winter?!
Wow.... I love it, I do.... Kell...this is a knock out.
I'll be over in a few weeks with my hacksaw...I'll be glad to help you prune (whatever will fit in my suitcases, that is LOL)
She's very pretty Kell! I was given two Golden Lady cuttings that didn't make it. Bummer. They were sent with two Creamsickles and one Herrenhauser Garten that all made it. Not sure what happened. Not knowing, I threw all of my cuttings that didn't make it away, right away. I won't do that from now on. I've heard if you keep watering them, you might be surprised. Hindsight is 20/20. I have a Cherokee up in the sunroom that I believe had died (after doing quite well) so I am continuing to water it. I should go ahead and bring it outside with the rest of them. There is hardly anything up in the sunroom now, and I'm afraid I'll forget to water it.
Love Golden Lady .... she is a beauty Kell!!
Sadly, as big as she is, I never give cuttings of her away. I rooted a bunch 2 years ago and everyone of them got mottled leaves so I tossed them all. It must have a virus. Oddly, the mother plant has never had mottled leaves. But every year she does something weird and is almost tossed. I am stretching my rule to toss any brug that is odd becuase she is so agressve in growth, I keep thinking the virus must not be a bad one. I keep her out all winter and that maybe why she does weird things.
This is 2/3s of her height. She is huge.
she is gorgeous! That is strange that the mother didn't have it. Have you tried to root cuttings from her since?
I just love that one. Cindy
Its such a beautiful brug! Im glad the mother plant shows no signs of anythig for you.
I had always wanted a GL. I did a trade last year, and the other end fell through, maybe a blessing in disquise.
If not mistaken, plants may have a virus (a carrier, if you will) with no symptoms while grown under optimum conditions. When it becomes stressed, then the virus becomes active and damage is displayed. Cuttings would definitely be in a different environment while rooting. Maybe once the cutting was rooted and vigorously growing, the symptoms would again disappear as in the mother plant. The virus would still be there though.
Roses can have a virus that doesn't kill, just discolored foliage. It doesn't transfer to other plants and can't be cured. After thinking it was my own ineptitude, a visiting rosarian explained it and how it's propagated via cuttings. I then found the same info in books.
I absolutely LOVE her! She blooms one flush after another during the summer and is less prone to insects than most of my other Brugs. My GL is about to pop now, but, she looks like a dwarf next to yours Kell!!
I have one but it is just starting to get good leaves it is a thick cutting that was sent to me, I was about to give up on her when the leaves appeared.
I loved my Big Yella last year, but none of the cuttings survived ( :o( Does anyone have any Big Yella they want to swap for something?
I have heard that also Blaine. Though this plant gets so stressed in the winter esp. in the frost. I have it in the ground. 2 years ago I cut it to hardly anything for I was going to toss it as soon as 2 pods ripened. In spring it grew back so fast, so big, before I had a chance to. The new growth was so healthy, I kept it. It has the habit of splitting at the joints and even along the old stems . Now it is putting out white branches. It is a most entertaining brug! LOL
Betty, I have so many people I need to send cuttings to, I have stopped offering till I get caught up. Sorry! I did send Big Yella out to many people, so manybe someone else will share.
No I haven't Karrie. I decided I would never share her just in case she had something bad, I would feel terrible if I spread it around. There are enough people who have this, who can share.
Mel and Doris, I can't wait to see yor blooms. Sometimes they are orangey which is great fun to see.
I'm just wondering if someone else that has the Golden Lady has had the same thing happen to their cuttings.
Gl..seems to hate to make nice healthy cuttings..I have madw a few,but the number I threw on the compost pile outweigh the good one's five to one. I'm not doing cutting on her again.
Kell, your Golden Lady is absolutely gorgeous! I can just imagine laying down underneath all those gorgeous flowers and looking up into their beautiful blooms. Their scent most be intoxicating!
Kell I feel so sorry for you having all the problems, like split limbs and putting out white branches. NOT lol I have one also and mine bloomed Christmas Day inside the house. It is the first year to go in the ground and it is growing like gang busters. I haven't taken any cuttings but I have a side shoot that is almost ready to pull.
I got mine from Delisa at the GA fall roundup.

Shirley, the scent gets overpowering fast. My backyard has way too many blooms now all over it. At night, I gag.
Georgiaredclay, mine grows like crazy also. How special you had a bloom Christmas day! I will be interested in how your brugs do in your Georgia red clay. I have some in clay and they are so green and they bloomed so short as seedlings.
Mel, what a fantastic picture. What kind of camera do you have? It is a great daytime shot. I really need to learn how to use my new one. Your leaves are so beautiful, you do not even need the incredible flower.
She is gorgeous Kell !! I have been out of town for ten day's , and when I got home yesterday, mine was all in bloom too. It is one of my favorites.
Hi Patricia. I wondered what you were up to, you were so quiet. Did you go to somewhere exciting, I hope?
kell it will be a long time befor I get blooms I hardly have leaves :) I finaly planted just about all of them out this week, I am hoping they will do better as I have been swamped with those durn gnats again, I lost all the leaves on a special seedling, I am hoping I can save her.
Kell, you are too sweet! I would like to take credit for the shot, however, I had the camera on the automatic setting and it was pure luck! I have a Fujifilm S 3000 that was a gift on my last birthday. I have yet to master it but do get lucky sometimes.
So Cal in Htg Beach also had a large flush of GL
& had a bunch of broken branches she offered for SASE

Kell-what are you feeding those brugs. They love those CA cool evenings and warm days. We have about 3 days of that weather a year.
