My first visit from the Ruddy Daggerwing's this year

It must be warming up because butterfly activety has greatly increased over the last two weeks. This morning I saw several Ruddy Daggerwing's on my Schefflera 'Nova' plant, the best butterfly attractor in my yard. These butterflies are really cool. When they fold their wings they disguise themselves as a dead leaf. Notice the stripes go in a different direction than normal.

Ooops, I forgot to attach the picture. Here it is.

Several Ruddy Daggerwing's were visiting today and I got a picture of one of them with it's wings closed. It's hiding as a dead leaf. It's slightly orange colored just to the left of the red passonflower. In the next shot you will see part of it's wings opened and really begin to see what it is.

A second shot of the Ruddy Daggerwing with it's wings partially open. It's easier to see it's a butterfly in this picture.
