Look what I found in New York!

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Yes its beautiful and larger than life! And you too can have it for the bargain price of not $1000.00, not even $800.00 but for the bargain price of $540.00 you too can have this paper mache beauty to light up your home.

When I first saw this I knew I had to have it, my first look at the price tag said $40.00 and for that price I would ride under the bus too get it home in perfect shape, but I moved the lamp over and couldnt believe they wanted so much for it. I fell in love with the thing but no way could I have bought that and convinced DH that it really was a bargain. LOL

Gosh, I'm speechless (doesn't happen often)

Springfield, OH(Zone 5b)

OK.. so did you get it or not?????

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

WOW - that is pretty! I'd never be able to spend that kind of money on a lamp anyways. Plus, it wouldn't go with our decor and would end up sitting up on a shelf somewhere.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Wow, how neat is that! Ummm you would have thought at that price it would have been made of stained glass but paper Mache?????? NOT NOT NOT... not even durable enough for that kind of money. But it sure is a great idea for someone out there to invent but with stained glass....I wish I was rich *sigh* I would do it!!! lol

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

I think that I saw this before;but I didn't know it was paper Mache!! I think during a search for Brugs. one showed up.
How big was this?? Hey!! I want one!!
Bonnie

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

BrugAddict, Just what I was thinking! I'd buy one!! There has to be someone here that does stained glass, or knows someone that does!
I could see a small night light, a desk lamp, a table lamp, and a hanging one!!
I sure wish I was talented!!

I didnt buy it but Oh I wish I could have. Its about 4 feet long and yes only paper mache. I could have handled a price of $40 but not $540, the DH would have killed me for sure. My decor is kinda mixed anyway so it would have gone perfectly if only because I wanted it so much. Now if I knew how to do stained glass I would definatly do something like this, but I was also wondering how easy it would be to make one just like it if not a little smaller in paper mache.
I just know when I saw it I had to take a picture or no one would believe me, LOL, I tried to get a pic of the price tag too but it was way too high to get a clear pic of it.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

I do not think I would like it hanging in the house ...

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I was thinking the same thing Deb. It would get old(and dirty) in no time, geez I'd have to think long and hard before I'd part with $540.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Bonnie I'd buy one too but only if it were stained glass lol...somebody should get right on this before the idea gets taken!! lol no kidding!

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Wow, that's some site and quite a savings Margie! It's a fun lamp. Pricey, but fun...

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I love it. What a fun find.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

I'd like it even better if the calyx was more green - on my monitor, it looks breen, which might be fine, but I'd have to see it. I have a place I'd like to use it...the 23 inch one...

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Even with all the dust and what not it would collect I would still love to have one. Maybe I can wait long enough for someone to get tired of thiers, LOL.

Springfield, OH(Zone 5b)

I like the one picture lady found because it looks like it has tendrils.. lol

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

To make one out of stained glass is possible........

but not sure I've got the time to do one.........
and ya know, with the price of stained glass, not sure anyone would pay the price for it

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Why don't you make it? can't be rocket science! Use a transluscent plastic sheeting (that they use for soji screens...it would be angular but you could fill in the sharp angles with paper mache made out of white tissue paper.

This is just off the top of my head...I know 'diddely' about paper mache!!!

Wow...what will power you have!!!

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Interesting...wonder where you would hang something like it... I think I like my brugs better in the garden...............

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

lol me too Gretchen!

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

I'd hang it, the 23 inch one, nestled in the corner on my side of our bed and I'd use a small watt bulb. I'd use it as an accessory, rather than a light for reading, tho if it has a 3 way switch it could probably be used for reading too...I dunno, but I love it...but I'd like the calyx a lighter shade of green or lighter green shaded in, for some depth...

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Thats exactly what I was thinking Sherry.

Mirpur (A.K), Pakistan(Zone 9b)

Really very beautiful.

Thanks Kaleem

Thank YOU Davencat for the site, I LOVE Margie's site too, especially because it's cheaper, lol!! I'm attaching a fun site that I call my 'inspiration' page. It's pricey but I love lots of the stuff and all the colors and designs. I'm going to copy the large hall mirror, but not sure where I'll use it...I LOVE the 24 inch chair/bar stool with the black and white swirl striped seat...and I LOVE all the fish stuff and the vases...
