As I worked around my gardens this weekend, I decided to take some pictures (as usual..lol), and, of course, I wanted to share them with you all...;o)

These are my favorite Allium, although I hear they are being named something else and are no longer an Allium at all....who knows, I just love 'em!!!

Fabulous pictures, Jamie. I love the blue of that Lord Lieutenant. What's the pretty thing behind it? A Verbascum?

My Nectaroscordum have not opened yet, and I'm in sunny California. Of course, they're in the shade. Your Polemonium is gorgeous. My blue ones rarely bloom. I think they're too far in the shade to bloom, but they would fry in the sun, so... The apricot-colored ones bloom like crazy, but they don't have to live under the trees.

Where will you post your garden pictures after "alpine season" is over? Why don't you keep posting them here? I'm sure no one will mind. I'm going to do a thread of "Blue Flowers for Jamie" and most of them won't be alpines.

Did you get your plants from Wrightman yet? If so, were they soggy when they arrived? Most of mine are still recovering and some might not make it. By the time I removed the waterlogged brown leaves from the Ramonda serbica, it was the size of a thumbtack, an $8 thumbtack! Sickening.

I love the stones...they are much more 'washed' than locally available ones here. Also a better colour. We have only crushed granite so it looks a bit too pink for my taste, but then again, beggars can't be choosers.

Are your Lewisia ever going to stop blooming? We had nothing but fog and drizzle and only 40-45 F for the last week with the long range looking the same. All my plants are in limbo waiting for a sunny day.

Hi Zuzu~

I always appreciate your kind responses! And to answer your question - I post alot of pics in the perennials forum because thats mainly what I grow, I've been growing those for 10+ yrs unlike the rock garden cuties, which I only "discovered" 2-3 yrs ago. I just posted a thread there with pics of my main sunny border.....let me know what you think...;o)

OOOOoooooo... gorgeous all of 'em! You can post any pic's here you like.
I won't mind.

I thought Ramonda myconi needed dry shade? I got a bunch to start from seed
but I killed 'em off. I think it was too hot or humid in the greenhouse. It was a
couple of years ago and I've not had any luck since germinating them. (I got some
mystery ranunculus from the last batch of seed).

I've got a blaze of blue going now too - Phlox Divaricata, lithodora, iris (crista,
bearded & dutch), gentiana (just past but still some blue left).

Hi, Jamie--

Saw your latest thread in the Perennials forum. Loved, loved, loved the pictures. Do you post in the Annuals forum too?

Have you received your Lithodora Star from Big Dipper yet? I ordered three of them (and numerous other things) from Big Dipper on April 23rd, but I didn't get anything yet. I got the "You and Me Denim" hose-in-hose primula because the ones I got earlier this year (red laced and something else, maybe maroon laced) are performing so beautifully. I hope they didn't lose my order. I want my stuff!!!

Zuzu ~

I forgot to answer your other question about Wrightman.....miserable, wet, soggy, expensive glop was what I recieved from them...I will stick with Siskiyou, Mont Echo and Heronswood for most things now...so many other nurseries are not able to provide quality consistantly, and paying the prices plus shipping - then being disappointed is NOT ok with me! I also like Annie's Annuals and Big Dipper and Digging Dog Nursery, but that is it.....oh and Arrowhead Alpines.......but thats it...LOL...OK so I use alot of mail-order, it's hard to find the stuff I want locally...but my 5-6 favorite nurseries are it for a while....been burned a few to many times. What nurseries do you like, and have given you consistant quality??? Not just alpines, but perennials, shrubs, tropicals too??

Tammy ~

Thank-you for the compliment, and I will have to keep posting other plants pics here....I won't have any rock garden blooms soon, all seem to be peaking now. After helping to get this forum up & running again I will have to keep posting to it...LOL ;o)
Your garden is gorgeous, and your plants sublime!!!! I keep looking at them again and again.....just a beautiful place you have there!!!! Can't wait to see more..;)

Jamie

ps. Some Mother's Day gifts from my kiddos....the wooden bear from my son, and the metal bear and wolf next to it from my daughter...they know thier mom....get her garden stuff!!! Such smart kids...;o)

Jamie, were you composing your message while I was sending mine, asking about Big Dipper? Looks like we cross-posted.

I've been buying plants every year for years and years from Digging Dog, Joy Creek, Forest Farm, Annie's Annuals, Bluestone, and Brent and Becky's Bulbs.

New and exciting finds this year were Bulbmeister, Terra Ceia Farms, and Vanveen Bulbs for bulbs; Royal Palm, Yucca Do, and World Plant Shop for tropicals; Brushwood for vines and climbers; and Edelweiss, Parkdale Gardens, Big Dipper, and eFlowerGarden for a variety of plants (more detail upon request).

As for the alpine nurseries, I love Alpines Mont Echo, Beaver Creek, and Mt. Tahoma. I'll never order from Wrightman's again and I might not order from Siskiyou again. I loved the plants when they arrived, but some of them never really got going. All of the plants from the first three are doing well. I didn't order anything from Arrowhead, so I don't know how those plants would have fared.

This week I'm expecting plants from Plant Safari and Aloha Palms (and Big Dipper, I hope). I'll let you know how they are.
