Pink Frosty Gone White

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

My Pink Frosty has been blooming all winter and here into spring with short rest periods in between.

All blooms have been pink. Today, new flush of blooms, but they are white with very pale, pale yellow veining. What happened? In the photo, both flowers are from the same tree.

Interesting... Maybe someone will come along and explain this to us.

Molly, could that be one of the Sunray that I gave to some of you at the swap? sure looks like a Sunray to me. Melba

Did the flower just open? Some of mine open white and then turn pink.

Now you are gonna think I'm crazy!!!!. All the ones that were white last night are now pink. The new ones coming open today are yellow.

Melba, no mistaking the tree. This is definately the Pink Frosty. Sunray is 15 feet away from this one and we don't have any blooms yet.

Maybe it's the heat. I have heard that heat can affect the colors and how they change throughout the day. But man I tell ya, the fragrance on these was really great last night!!!!. You could smell them from across the yard. During the day you have to put your nose way up in there to even get a slight scent.

Any educated opinions?

Thanks, Molly

Molly, my Frosty Pink always start out pale yellow, turn white and then turn pink. They're interesting and entertaining to watch.

LOL, Chele.... We ALL will be sending Kell our pinks for re-pinking...... :)

Molly, I'm in WI and when I had Frosty it would do the same thing..... open white or yellow and then turn pink.... I think it knows it has a lot of competition so it tries to be original.. :)

Thank you all!!!!! I am completely encouraged. And don't I feel particularly special today to have such a talented Angel in my garden.

Here's the ones that were white last night. Now pink, then there is the new yellow one down there on the left.

MollyMc you have certainly transformed your yard. You should be so proud of what you have accomplisted. It is beautiful.

Judy,

Thank you so much for saying that. It was quite barren when I moved here last fall. And now, due to my inability to maintain self-control, it has become a virtual "Jungle Out There", heehee.
