If my blooms will look anything like yours, it was worth the wait from seed!

wow! You started it from seed? I've heard that starting iris from seed is hard and takes a long time. How long did it take for you? Where do you get your seed?

Yup! It wasn't really hard, I did the whole cold treatment in the fridge thing, there were maybe five seed and I guess two out of five isn't bad. I can't remember though where I got it.

I wonder how long it'll take for flowers, I think they're two years old.

I germinated some yellow iris a different way. I put a thin patted down layer of soil in sandwhich bag, put down the seed and put down a loose layer ontop. Then I refrigerated for a while, moistened the inside and put the bag in a window. Every so often a seedling would haphazardly come up.

Pretty easy! I just wish it didn't take so long from seed to flower!

Yeah but it could really be worth the wait if something different popped up, like some fancy sport. I think the second way that you did them sounds good. I may have to try that with my daylilies this year. I bought crosses off the internet, did the fridge thing, then soaked them for 3 days then planted them. I planted 280 seeds and now at 4' pot stage I have 83 plants. Maybe I'll get a better percentage using the method you used with the irises.

Hope it works!

They will not be true to parent but each seed can produce different iris ,
it is fun to see what comes up but you will not have Rare Treat you will have a seedling of Rare Treat .only by Rhizome division can you get rare treat iris .Todays iris are hybrids

Oh :(

Cheer up though, you could get something even better!
