I have been told that Yellow Raspberries are really wonderful..... and I was wondering if anyone out there lives in Tennessee or zone 6 ish and grows them.... I would love to try my hand at them... but was told that they tend to be difficult... I have some Red that are doing well for their first year, and are spreading wonderfully...

Yellow Raspberries
If red is doing well for you I don't know why the golden ones wouldn't. I would love to grow raspberries but my ground just doesn't drain as well as they need. I did have a few goldens once and they were actually easier than the reds. At least that was my experience.
I had a mixed raspberry patch. The golden ones were much sweeter -- but, eventually, they petered out. And, the everbearing reds took over.
My absolute favorite and always a wowzer with visitors is the Harvest Gold I got from Stark's a few years ago. It's everbearing and an amazing flavor. It's even done without full sun and a lot of competition. Starks says gold had to be separated from the reds/purples so I put these golds along a fence type support intended for grapes which were planted about the same time. Then I planted clematis to "fill in" until the grapes got going and trained. The clematis have gone nuts, the grapes aren't so thrilled with sun competition, but raspberries at the bottom have migrated out away from the fence a bit but has always set fruit. I compete with the birds to get my share.
You need to get up early in the morning, when the dew is still on them. Real hedonistic. Nothing like fresh raspberries, except, maybe, fresh figs.
All this raspberry talk has me salivating like a maniac... yikes...
Going out tomorrow to see if any are ripe...
