Coleus, Painted Nettle 'Rustic Orange'
Solenostemon scutellarioides

Great variation can be seen in 'Rustic Orange' from plant to plant.

Since they ase so different, what is your absolute assurance they are the same plant?
Are they kept in different lights? sun/shade?
Has one had fish emulsion and one not?
These are such fun plants and I respect and appreciate all your advice.

Without a DNA cabable microscope, I don't think there is any assurance.

Other than that I can only tell you that these came off a grower's truck in the same flat.
I can't tell you under what conditions they were grown.
They all carried the same grower's tag.
They all bear a striking resemblance to one another, with the characteristic variations that all Coleus have.

Another Coleus that varies drastically from plant to plant is the trademarked Kong Green and Kong Mosaic.

This is a third plant from the same flat along with one of the three identical tags.

Question...I've been trying to figure out whether a hosta that I purchased at an annual nursery is Rustic Orange or Klondike. I've looked up pictures of both and compared but the picture I've found of Rustic Orange elsewhere does not look like yours -- it has a green edge around it. It was from http://www.rosydawngardens.com Here it is:

Klondike looks similar (also has a lime trim), but the trim is bolder. My hosta also has a trim like the picture above. Could one cultivar vary THAT much, or is the picture from Rosy Dawn wrong?

I think we're talking about Coleus not Hosta right?

For more information you could always contact Rosy Dawn or the grower of these plants:

Imelling, I would say that hosta is neither....wha-da-ya-say team????
