I washed them off. Now what, I've read about others using a bleach solution to soak them. What do I do now? This is my first pod.

Break them apart and let them dry if you have to store them or go ahead and plant. Just have fun!!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Thanks Shirley, I'll go break them apart now and see how many I have.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Linda,I think you need to let them dry some and break them apart, there are a hundred seeds there, maybe more.
I am not the pro on this,so hopefully someone will be along to give better advice.
Great looking pods and a good cross,I hope you have luck with them.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

WTG Linda .... best of luck to you!!

Thanks for starting this WITH the pics. I'm bookmarking for future ref.
Looking forward to the rest of the story.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

I had no idea they looked like that! Thank you for posting the photo...and good luck to you too!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Looks like about 45. I peeled 3 as a test and they all had a bean inside. Think I'll plant them and see if they germinate.

Do you know of a cultivar with Butterfly and Dr Seuss as parents? I looked in my records and can't find one that I've listed.

Goodness, that looked like a couple of diseased kidneys, I never dreamed you would have seeds. Congrats, Linda, I'm impressed and grateful for this thread, assuming I EVER have a pod, whew, I do not think it will ever happen...

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

LOL Sherry, they do look disgusting don't they. And they're slimy too, it was hard to peel them. Here they are in their starter cup.

and now we wait.

Linda, the slime dries pretty fast once the seeds are spread out. If you decide to peel some more tomorrow, they won't be slimy at all, and should peel easily.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Thanks Ronna, they're drying now.

Next photo will be if/when they germinate.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

They will germinate Linda - I'm sending you a double dose of my magic, designer zone 8a vibes, only trade-able between certified zone 8a gardners!!!!

Thanks Sherry

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Looking good, Linda. I see they are real fresh by the color of the inner seed. They will germinate right away, they are so fresh. I do not know what you will get, but I do know you are going to be so excited waiting for your frist babies to bloom. Congratulations!!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Congrats, Linda. Hope they grow you some beauties.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Linda, I can see how how you are excited you are about this pod and I hope you get something very special from the seeds..........congrats!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

May you be greeted with the seedlings you want!!! I am inspired!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Thanks for all of your well wishes. Yes, I am excited. Guess it's the little things in life that bring us joy. This was my very first attempt at pollination. It just so happened that the two were blooming at the same time, but looking at things over the past 6 months, it looks like an interesting cross.

Next pod that I'm watching is Maya X Butterfly, that one should be ready soon.
