Planting cuttings on their sides?

Ive been thinking about taking a chunk of cutting and laying it on its side in the dirt..anybody do this and get good results..Ive been told you would get more then one plant this way?...Judy

Yes, Judy. My opinion, that is the only way to go. I received some really special cuttings this past winter and I tried them the traditional, upright way. I've never lost a cutting until those! The horizontal cuttings work really well for me, even with greenwood. If I'm rooting a really tall cutting and I want to keep the height, I do it vertically, otherwise, log style. Shoot, I can't find the old thread...
