I thought brugs would not bloom until they formed a "Y", but I see this morning on my Isabelle cutting, 2 buds on the very top, pointing straight up.
Here is the whole plant, sorry the quality is so poor, but I think it is clear enough to tell if there is a "Y" that I am missing.
Am I missing the "Y"?
looking good!! It is a cutting from above the Y. They can bloom even on a little piece. Post your pics when they open.
REALLY! Well that is interesting! Thanks Kell for that info, I will for sure post pics, I hope she is as lovely as the IsabellA pics I have seen posted.
Edited to correct her name. LOL

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! conngrats dear, I can't wait to see pictures!!!
You have a Y
The bud is growing out of the middle of it.
Dang Scooterbug, you have good vision. I totally missed that!!
shoot, I'll take a bud out of an 'F' as long as it's a bud! :)
Hope to see future pics as they emerge!!
I thought you could get buds from a cutting above the Y. I've been keeping an eye out on mine - could be any day. Some of mine have more than one Y. Not sure if all of them were taken from above the Y or not - that information was never disclosed to me from those that sent me mine.
Hi again,
ok, saw what scooter posted & went back & looked, but to my novice eye, it just looks like the buds are growing between some leaves that are not quite out yet. I will watch & see what it does and post some pics. If that is where a Y is gonna start, I will know what to watch for in the future.
I had never heard of brugs until one day, while waiting for a pack of seeds from Daturapod, I get this huge three-sided mailer from him. It turned out to be 19 brug cuttings that he meant to send to someone else. I emailed him & he said oops, just keep them. LOL The first year I had such a problem with spidermites and never got a bloom, that I hated them. Last year they bloomed & I was hooked. The only downside is that I am not a fan of yellow or white flowers & that is what all but 2 of these were. But the smell, oh my goodness, what can I say? So this last winter I bought some cuttings that are all pink varieties except one peach & found homes for all but 2 of the others.
I am going to shape them all as standards like I did the others, and then when they bloom I am gonna sit under them & just breathe.
So, does it sound like I am addicted enough to be on this forum? ;~)
I sure appreciate all the responses. It is so nice to have a place to go for answers!

LOL Donna, OMG do I ever remember you getting that package!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am rolling right now just remembering it!!!! Larry, what can we say, he was sooo overly generous with you and all for a few seeds that you were expecting LOLOLOL, I gotta quit, I am literally laughing I can't help myself here!!!
I know at least where to find you when I come looking, out there under all those brugs tee hee
~Laurrie
pmp, you will notice two clearly identifiable growth points in the second picture .
Shown in the picture above and below the large bud.
They look like 2 seperate groups of new baby leaves.
It is not unusual for the first bud to come directly out of the spot where the division of the growth point created the Y.
I could be mistaken because I cannot see whats going on under all those leaves.
A Y is essentially the forking of the main growth point resulting in 2 growth points.
Take a peek

Yes Laurrie, I bet you do remember. ROTF, And I bet your ears are still burning from all the cuss words I unloaded on you about those spidermites too. hehehe
Thank you Scooter, I will take some better pics for my records for future reference. I appreciate the explanation. :~) Slowly but surely I will figure this all out.
Scoot is right. I could see the two sides of the Y as soon as I opened the second picture. Congrats.
Thank you Shirley. :~)
