I have this one right up at the street. Yesterday I was in the yard and a car stopped and the guy said, "hey, angel lady, I love your tree".
Charles Grimaldi has been stopping traffic
Looking good. . It is so nice and straight. I bet it really takes off now.
Linda,
It is beautiful. If mine looks half as good I'll be pleased.
Judy
Looks awesome, Linda!! Lucky guy!
:) Donna
It has perfect shape, you know I would be stopping by!
I don't have a GM Linda, but, last year, mine didn't wilt like that until it was really (((HOT))) and humid. Did your temp make a 'sudden' change from 'cool' to *HOT*???? It is such a beautiful brug, I'm sure it will be okay. I'm going to 'shield' mine that droop/wilt this year with some of that shade cloth, wrapped around rebar. Don't know if it will work, but I'm going to try it...
No wonder it stopped traffic, it's a beauty!
It is also photo of the day in the newsletter! A beauty!!
LindaSC what a beauty, and so nice of you to give a started one to the driver-by. I have a couple of CG, one is a holdover from last year the other is a cutting from above the Y. I am just able to put them outside now.
Yours has such a lovely shape, great tree. DonnaS
It looks great, Linda! Is it in a pot or in the ground? Forgot to tell you, my Butterfly pods ripened a couple of weeks ago, so yours that were one month younger may be close. I still have pods on a couple of other plants, and they are just sitting there, no change at all.
Hi Ronna, my Butterfly pod is still hanging on. Butterfly is budded up to bloom again, this time outside so it should be darker.
Thanks all for the comments. CG is right up at the road's edge. Some of the neighbors who walk stopped and asked me about it too, they had never seen one.
Your Charles Grimaldi is gorgeous1 I can see it causing traffic to back up on your street. Kin was kind enough to send me to cuttings of CG this year and I have just put them outside. How old is yours?
Susan
Thanks Susan, it is about a year and a half old. This is the first time it's bloomed. I've just been reading the other CG thread and the troubles with Stenglbrand (sp).
Linda, your CG is a beauty. I would pull over, too to have a look at such a lovely plant. That was so thoughtful of you to give the admirer a plant. I'm sure you made their day!
Oh yes, your Charles is certainly a "traffic stopper", Linda. Lovely!
How tall is CG Linda? I see you are training some others to be the same. What are they?
Jeanette
Jeanette, it is about 6 ft. The other tall one is 'Frosty NOT' and the one in the middle is a seedling. You can't see the foreground where there are about a dozen other seedlings. The majority are in the side and back yard. All together I have about 150. This summer, as they bloom I plan to try to eleminate some. I just have too many to care for properly. I'm getting too old to work so hard.
Linda, I spoke too soon about wilting brugs, one of my tiny ones, that wintered outside wilted today. Well it was very hot, humid all of a sudden. I believe she will be okay but I'm providing the tiny ones some shade today. It your CG one of your bubbler brugs???
No, it was in the gh in a pot. I've put it in the ground now. Mine is in 3/4 shade and it hasn't been hot here. Rosamond is doing just fine. Ya know, the watering system may not be giving it enough. I'd better check on that.
beautiful.
