Pruning Hoya Bella

Brookeville, MD(Zone 7a)

I'd like to know when it's okay/or the correct time to prune my hoya bella plant. It's been growing pretty well since I've started misting daily and fertilizing. It actually in bud right now, I guess it's rebudding from the last blooms which was last month.

I'd like it to bush out as much as I can get it to and I'd like to share cuttings with friends and neighbors.

Thanks for you help!

For your own enjoyment...prune when it finishes blooming. They smell so sweet! H. bella will bush out when pruned back...but leave some leaves on it. LOL

I'm really pleased with this plant, it puts out so many flowers for me and it's relatively small.

Isn't bella a wonderful plant? Mine has been blooming since February and it just does not want to stop. I hung it from the top of my gazebo and bella hangs directly over the patio table and chairs. It looks like it is raining flowers!

That's a totally perfect location for it because of the downfacing flowers. I would love to see a picture of that.

Oh, what a cozy garden spot. I love it. Looks like a page from a garden magazine. Hey, which hoya is that big one just to the right of the pot on the table?
Anyway, Lovely area there, Mel! Looks so cool and refreshing.

Thanks for the compliment. Have you ever tried to photograph a bella bloom? You about have to lay on your back to get the picture of the blooms and plant.

Marcy that is what was called H. metallica. Carol renamed it and perhaps she can tell you it's new ID. I seem to be having an episode of CRS at the moment!

H. metallica was a cultivar by Michael Miyashiro...and the name totally wrong. Its' official/legal name is H. cv. Noelle.

That's perfect. Just like a little slice of tropical heaven!

Mel, you just about have to lie on your back? I did do just that! My mom was passing by and probably just shrugged it off as one of my usual weird gardening things.

I hear that, Capt! My family tends to ignore my strange behavior when it comes to plants! If I am found laying on my back to get a better look at a flower, they now just walk on by.

Here is the cv bloom, Marcy.

Mel, that is so pretty. I need to print the photo and show it to my plant.

What a darling bloom to go with those pretty leaves. Well, now I have a new hoya on my wish list. Ha. Guess I will have to get some cuttings going so I can sell some of mine to buy more..ha.

Oh, yeah, just how much should I prune off?
