Passiflora Question

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

I have my first passion flower (p.belotii). I will have to transplant it, pot it, then put it by my trellis, take it inside in fall. Today a friend told me that they need to be root bound to bloom. He's usually misinformed. It's in a rather small pot now. I need to know what size pot to transplant into. Anyone have one in a pot?

I don't know about that
they bloom in the wild, and I'm pretty sure they are not rootbound

First year min. pot size, 8 inch, in right conditions and locations it will be full of roots by fall. Increase pot size as years progress. Also takings cuttings of your plant each fall allows you to deal with a smaller size plant and control the vineing of your plant each year.

Great info, thanks! There's just so much learn. I've always grown veggies and herbs before this year...who knew plants could be so much more complicate!? Geesh - score this one, soak that one, heat pad germination for this one, cold germ for that, refrigerate this, plant this one in the dark. How long before my head will stop spinning???
