It was another gorgeous day here in Castlegar, so me and doggie and digi, set out to see what I could do for my "pretty tree addiction". It didn't take long and I had my fix! Although the Magnolias are all but finished, the crabapples are in full force here. Their blooms are spectaular. I found a gorgeous tree with pale yellow blooms that I was unfamiliar with, so went to the house to ask, but nobody was home. Anybody recognize it?
More Tree Photos
There are so many of these Crabapples all over town, bu this yard had two with different color blossoms. The one on the left has deep rosy pink blossoms, will the one on the right is the pale pink variety.
Are you sick of pretty trees yet? Hope not, 'cause I am gonna start on Lilacs next trip. :D
The first is a Cornus(aka Dogwood)...the bloom and the shape tells alot! hpy gdng, Donna.............E
A Dogwood can get that big, Elaine? This old Alberta girl is amazed. I have a small dogwood shrub and I know it is our provincial flower. Thanks for the enlightment. Sure makes a pretty, big tree, doesn't it? :)
Thanks for the pretty pics, Donna! I'm just reading this thread for the first time.
My grandma in Mill Bay BC has a couple of dogwoods on her property, and I thought I recognized the flowers in your photos but wasn't sure til reading Elaine's post. The flowers almost seem to glow in the evening light. Hers don't have as many blooms as the one you found though....that's quite a specimen! I don't blame you for coveting it! :-) Thanks again for the pics.
