printer question

I have a HP photosmart 7660 it uses a color ink cartridge that I have to put in when I want to print off pictures, I take out the black cartridge and put in the color, this is the way I've always done it, suppose to do it this way, But here lately, (and never use to do this) everytime I switch ink cartridges it wants to do a calibration test page, it wastes my ink, and wants to do this everytime, I can't skip it either, won't do anything else till I print the test page, is there some way to stop this. I mean come on, I switch cartridges every day at least, I use the black one for normal printing and stick the photo one in for printing photos.
