About 4 months ago I planted this 2 node cutting at a tree on our new road. No pot, just stuck in some potting mix....and it was obviously the right thing to do...here she is opening to her glory this morning....
H. imperialis
And this is her environment...a H. sp. Apple Green is growing up the tree beside her. They seem to be getting along just fine.

That is so neat Carol! I now dub you "Carol Hoya Seed" as you go around Hawaii spreading the hoya wealth here & there so that all may enjoy.

Thanks Marcy...gotta spread the faith!!!
That one looks like it is right out in the full sun. Is it? I didn't know that one liked sun.

It gets morning sun in the summer, and a bit less in the winter. Unfortunately the trees don't have huge canopies...but the hoyas will usually grow more up the side of the tree they are more comfortable with. I stuck the cutting in about 2 cups of potting soil at the base of the tree...in the leaf litter... I have both H. imperialis in a big pot growing up our Startfuit tree, in more shade...and it is not as happy.... go figger! They are very heavy feeders and I don't feed them a whole lot more than everyone else.

It's amazing Carol and gorgeous too. :)
The flower is awesome! What a way to live to go around flitting like a butterfly.
