Hi y'all. I'll be vacationing for about a week in Granbury TX, about 45 minutes from Ft Worth about the last week of May. I was wondering if any of you would be along my journey. I'll be travelling from Jonesboro, Ark. thru Little Rock and Texarkana down to TX on I-30. I'll be going thru Dallas and on to Granbury. Will anyone be along my route or close to Granbury? My friend will be working during the week days while I'm there, so I'll have my days free to travel out a bit and visit. Anybody interested? Do y'all have a plant swap planned near Dallas that week? Or anywhere close? I'd love to meet some of you.

I'm sure I won't want to leave. And my friend I'm visiting has a house for rent too. I may have to scope out the area for jobs. I've always wanted to live in TX. It just seems like home to me. Once I settle there, I want a bumper sticker that says: I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could. LOL

Well I live in Dallas right off I-30 on your way to Ft. Worth. I am about 5 minutes off the interstate... but I work during the day too. It would depend on when you will be blowing through town! :)

Hey Jamie, maybe I could stop in and visit you on my way back home, which would be Sunday the 29th. We could even work on a trade if you'd like. Or perhaps after work one day, my friend Tana and I could drive over and visit you together. She's a gardener too.

Jamie, I'll trade for anything I can use, whether it's garden related or not. I think my trade list has a few items at the bottom that are non-plant related, like DVDs, painting books, art supplies, etc. I could really use a pitchfork. I have two and both are saaaaaaad. LOL

Hey! I need a pitchfork too! I said that last night which led to my husband telling me I have an issue with separating "needs" from "wants." Ha! Whatever honey. Let me say that another way: "I am getting a pitchfork." LOL!
Well maybe I have some stuff you would like. We'll just have to see!
I actually live between FW and Granbury. BUT, I have company that week, but leaving on the 26th... so I could see you on that Friday though. There is a small group of us that garden around here, and we could try to set something up. We are in Arlington, Burleson, Crowely and Grandview. All are within an hour of Granbury. Crowley is about 40 minutes from there. One in our group is a BIG butterfly fanatic.

I would love any canna with a dark or variegated leaf. I only have just one, and it's green with red/orange flowers... a HD pkg that I got many years ago, before I had in interest in botanical names.... I just liked the height.

Am I the "fanatic"? ;) LOL I think that's a fine compliment! I think the 27th will be ok for me too. It's the first day of summer vacation for my son but my husband is off work that day. I'll get with Mel off the board and see what y'all have worked out.

Well, I'm excited! We'll have to set up some trades. Y'all know I have lots of cannas and a bunch of perennials. Should we list here what we have or should we list it on the plant exchange forum? I would need to dig my stuff for y'all this week. My garden party is next week and I'll be working on last minute things then. I will be arriving in TX two weeks from today! I'm ready for some fun!

Tana is trying to get a house ready for a tenant to move in June 1st and we need to sand and stain the hardwood floors before that. So Tues and Wed I'll probably be working on the floors. Ok, so what are our plans for the weekend I'll be there? Are we meeting at someone's house? Tana wants to go too. I discovered that that weekend is memorial day weekend, so I'm actually not going home til Mon. So Sat or Sun either one would work for me. If y'all want to do some trading, I could pot up some plants for ya. Check my last post (from a few days ago) on the Plant Exchange and see if I have anything you want.

Tana has me on a tight schedule. We're sanding hardwood floors on a rental she has. Tomorrow we start staining. I'm not going to be able to get away. We have so much to do and both of us are too tired to drive more than an hour to Crowley. So we're just going to hang out here. We plan to take Sat and Sun off and hit some nurseries and stuff. Then Mon I head for home.
I may come to the Dallas swap in the fall if I can work it into my schedule. So perhaps we could meet then. It will give me an excuse to come back to this beautiful state of yours. I really needed two weeks to hang out down here so I could go everywhere and meet everyone. As it is, I need a vacation to recover from my vacation. LOL

Thanks, Melanie. I'll mention Weston Gardens to Tana. Don't know if we'll feel like going into FW or not. We're so beat from all the sanding. My whole body aches! And we've been breathing dust for 2 days despite dust masks. I'm so tired! But today we start staining and then can see some real progress. I love hardwood floors!
I'm sorry I won't be meeting with you all this trip. But I didn't have a chance to dig any plants before I left Jonesboro, and there wouldn't have been room if I had with all the stuff Tana was bringing home. I'll just have to come back sometime, for a real vacation and to do some swapping with you guys.
I'm already looking forward to the 10 hr drive back home. That will be the only rest I get. LOL
