This weeks blooms

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

We have had 4 days now with temps 50-60 F. The plants are FINALLY moving. This weeks alpines include: Iris reticulata 'Harmony'. This clump is 3 years old and increasing nicely.

This is suppose to be Draba rigida, but I won't swear to that. I grew it from seed last year and this is its first blooming.

Narcissus 'Midget'. The whole plant is only 4"!

and Primula elatior. Lots of Saxifrages are close now.....hopefully by the weekend.

Lovely pictures, Todd. Your "Harmony" irises are particularly beautiful. I just got several pots of new PCH irises. They have no names yet. The Native Plant Society here in Sonoma County always has several new varieties on hand. The varieties seem to multiply daily.

The Draba is impressive. What a beautiful little mound it's forming.

Very pretty. I've not seen the Draba before. I love Midget and the Harmony irises - mine are over now though. You have a lovely selection of plants.

Another brilliant day today with the temp. reaching 65F. Here's Narcissus 'Topolino', just 6" tall.

And although not an alpine, my Viburnum X bodnantense is also open.

And my Chionodoxa 'Pink Giant' is spectacular this year.

and finally Erythronium dens-canis.

My Erythroniums have not done anything this year. I think they got lost. They tend to burrow into the ground here unless you put a stone under them. Yours is beautiful.

Your Viburnum is spectacular. All of mine are white. I would love to have one the color of yours.

I have Viburnum Dawn - they are so valuable for early colour - mine flowers in December on bare stems. I love the pulsatilla too. I am getting to really like these. This is alba.
