Going to TX in May. Who wants to meet me??

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

For vacation, I'm travelling from Northeast Arkansas way down into the most beautiful state on the planet, TEXAS! YES, Texas here I come! I will be leaving in late May. And I thought I might could do some in person trades along the way if anyone lives along my route.

I'll be travelling from NE Ark, near Memphis, down thru Little Rock and Texarkana on I-30, and entering NE TX and travelling thru Mt. Pleasant, Greeneville, Dallas, Irving, and ending up in Granbury. The friend I'll be staying with will be working during the first few days I'm there, so I'll be free to travel around and visit people who live near enough.

Do any of you live near enough to Granbury (about 45 minutes from Ft Worth, I think) for an in-person trade? I have lots to trade and would love to meet some of you.

Are there any plant swaps happening in TX in late May? Maybe I'll be there for one? I'll check the Round up forum and see if any are listed.

I'm so excited to be going to TX. I just love that place! It's heaven on earth, don't ya think?

how sweet, we'd love to have you for a visit or permanently. I live in the Houston area, about 4-5 hours from where you will be, but DH works part time in Dallas and if I'm in the area at the time I'll let you know. The area you will be visiting is great, no doubt you'll have a super time. Yeehaw!!!!

Hey Vossner,

I would love to meet you if you're going to be around Dallas the last week in May. I do plan to settle in TX one day. In fact, I chose the name for my gardens, The Butterfly Ranch, so it would fit in when I did move down there. LOL

Maybe we can hook up.

I would love to meet up - afraid I dont have to much to trade by way of plants at the moment unless you are wanting some same old same old. I have some newer cool stuff but they are all new from my own trades! LOL.... Trying to get some up for the swap in Sep/Oct here in Dallas. I do have Crepe Myrtle - Candy Stripe. They are cuttings that are rooted if interested. LMK Mitch

I think you should come on down to South Padre Island. No trip to TX is complete without seeing the Island, lol.

Wish I could afford to, Calalily. I have a few friends in and around Houston. But until these gas prices come down, I can't travel too far. Middle TX is stretching it for me since I'm coming from way up North in Arkansas. But don't worry, one day I'll get back down that way. I've travelled from one end of your state to another, and I just love it all!

I remember on one trip to San Marcos, TX, I was afraid to go out. The sky was such a dark blue that I thought it was gonna rain. I was told, no, it's not going to rain, why would you think that? Well, because your sky is such a deep blue. Here in Ark., when the sky is deep blue, we're expecting rain and thunderstorms. Our sunny days present a very pale blue sky. The comparison was incredible! And I've been hooked on TX ever since.

One day I'll settle in TX and then I want a bumper sticker that says: I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could. LOL

NancyAnn, you'll be too far away from central Texas, but maybe one day. There is another saying about the weather: If you don't like the weather, just wait a while. We named our ranch after the creek that meanders through it. Wanted to name it Ed's Folly, but my DH didn't think it was funny.

Nancy Ann, our skies are a beautiful blue and the sunsets are spectacular but don't last long. When it's going to rain, the sky gets gray. We have rain today, yippee!
Betty, that saying about the weather is so true. This week we had a cool spell, then lots of wind and clouds, then sunny and 80 and now rain.

We have the same saying abuot the weather here in Ark. I've seen it pour down 3 or 4 inches of snow one day and be 60 degrees the next and melt it all away. One Xmas Eve, it was 60 degrees that morning. By mid afternoon, it was in the 30's. We had terrible tornadoes and floods that night. It's strange how fickle weather can be.

I can see now I'll have to make another trip to TX sometime soon to visit other parts of the state again. I haven't been to TX in years! I'm so excited to get on my way. LOL

Nancy Ann,
I am in Denton, which is about 40 miles North of Dallas, what do you have to trade? I have Roses, and some other things. Sure, I would love to meet you!
