Jen you got one of the Red Torch Bananas that was in a gal pot before the hurricane. I am pretty sure I gave you , Janet, and Larry one. It may be that but I can't say since I just got mine in the ground and are still small. I had potted them up for the plant swap we were going to have here and they were all gone except for the pot I had for myself

that's supposed to be the one Jen. Trish and I split a pot of them a year ago last spring and I never got mine in the ground until now so they are still small.

i'm thinking that eclipse is right that its a musa ornata, and i'm leaning towards the lavender....looks like the flower is starting to peel away so we'll see whats going to come out of it? i know there is no red to tho..

are you sure you got it from donna b and not me that looks like lavander.... I gave away a garabage bag full at the swap. i think I was trying to call it valatina valentine etc. but duhhh, lavander sets better.

the more i get to thinking about this, the more i think i got it from last years swap and not this year. I remember towards the end of the swap, somebody that was parked close to me asked if i wanted a banana and i said sure. and i think i remember seeing it through the summer on the far end of the yard and putting it in the green house over the winter. The past year has been kinda hazy so of course i could be wrong.
i have to confess, the ones that you gave me in the bags are still in the bags, they do look good tho, lol.

Ms. donna I got you all colors of jakeobinia how ever you spell it. white yellow red and one I think called something funny but it bloom is pink but the leaves are a purple/green color.

Janet 2 of my red torch have pups already but the main plants are small. Want to wait untill they grow some before trying to take one. I guess they were ready to go into the ground.

I'll need a halo...... the nanarer janet gave me didn't make it.... =( oh and I got everyone a pound of chicken boo boo, and it has been processed so it want burn your plants and works good on tropicals... what was the name of your friend from tx I need to send her some seedums to id for me. didn't she have a bunch of them? and klanchoes....

Janet only need wheel chair if you take me to the ginger sale lol. I can manage around the house and am supposed to walk as much as I can even if it is only 3 steps.
Only will be allowed to sit for 30 minutes at a time and have to lay down most of the time. Gonna be a longggggggg summer. DH doesn't want me to go out of the house while he is not here because he is afraid I might fall going down the steps and worst of all I have to quit smoking. only had 7 so far today(1 more before bed). pretty good for a 3 pack a day smoker in a weeks time. The worst time is first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee and after supper. Can't smoke at all after the surgery or the bones won't fuse.

my problem with quitting smoking is staying quit. but donna every time that I quit smoking I use the 12 step program AA or the patch. if you are down to 7 you can do it.

if you are talking about the one like the pink justicia carnea and the white one, I had it but gave it away at the FL swap. The blooms are scraggly and ugly. I have the pink and white still. I also have Justicias(shrimp plants) fruit cocktail, fulvacoma, muntant, variegated, red, yellow, and colorata. Another of my obesssions lol. I had hoped to get them in the ground but not going to happen this year either.
Larry I will walk as much as I am able so speed the healing process but won't be allowed to do any gardening for 4 to 6 months and can only lift 10 pounds for I don't know how long yet. They are removing 4 pieces of bone from my hip and 2 disk from my spine. Inserting the bone to make wings on the side of the vertabrea and inserting 2 steel rods and 6 screws. It won't be pleasant. You all are going to have to come cheer me up in a few weeks after the pain gets better and I am bearable to be around since I can't take pain meds. Nurse said she would look into it to see if they could find something I could take since there are so many new pain meds out there. I sure hope so
I don't know what the yellow hardeny one is called. I It was given to me at the flea market and I bought two at the flea market and I was like I have got to get one for donna and I went looking at the ones you gave me and it started blooming the same...LOL just my luck. but heck for 3.00 for a gallon can't complain. justicia to me I love there blooms.
Yep we sure will come visit you. you just let me know where you want it and I will put it in the ground. no pain meds huhhh. after major surgery, dang that sucks. my probelm are antibotics they make me want to puke...

with all the synthetic drugs on the market, maybe they'll be able to find you one that you can use.
be sure to let larry know what you need planted, and where, and i'll be sure to come over and supervise him, lol
Oh I just wanted you all to come visit but if you want to plant something for me you won't have to twist my arm lol. I have pretty much got most of the pots where I want them planted.
Jen I am really scared to death of the pain after going through the shoulder surgery 2 summer ago with no pain meds. I absolutely thought I was going to die for 2 weeks. Then it became bearable. I am praying the pain won't be as bad since it won't be in a moving joint
oh goodness, well you know it is a short drive over there and I know I have pots and plants to drop off to everyone else....

I have a 4 ft. banana that I brought in over the winter. The leaves look bad, should I cut them off and let it start new ones?
I think this is a hardy banana but I was afraid to leave it out in zone6.
