Hi Brenda,
Very similar to 'Iron Butterfly', which does well in our climate, too.

I like the patterned leaves; they lend interest to the plant after the blooms fade (if it ever stops blooming!).

It does! I see you've had your 'Iron Butterfly' for a year too. You sure have a lot more blooms than I do. How much sun/shade does yours get? Maybe mine needs a bit more sun.

Mine is in filtered sun to full shade; the light varies depending on the season because of the many trees in the area (full shade in summer). It was in a gallon pot when I bought it (for only $6!) so it might have had a headstart over yours. Or it could just be genetics of the plant, soil differences, etc. I am already thinking of dividing mine this fall to make a small patch out of it. I am sure yours will be fine in sun or shade, just give it another year.
Are you still getting frost? We had another one this morning. I still have my tender plants in the greenhouse and can't wait to get them in the ground!

No frost here last night, thank goodness, although I still brought my plants in just in case.

Mine is at my old house...trying to decide whether to dig it and bring it or just order more. Mine is on the East side of the house so get a bit of morning sun (not a lot as the neighbor's house shades even the morning sun) and then full shade from about 1pm on. I think mine was a 4" pot or so which is the reason yours is bigger.

You are still able to go to your old house and dig stuff up? How cool! That is one thing I really dread if I ever move...choosing which plants get to go with me, and actually getting it done.
The fewer, the better, probably!
