CLOSED: Hover Fly?
It is indeed a Syrphid or Hoverfly...gardeners friend as their maggots feed on aphids.
you take beautiful insects photo, what plant is it on. I agree it's a hover fly.
And what camera did you use??
Canon 300D 100mm f2.8 USM Macro Canon lens. I think it is called Salvia nemorosa "Osfriesland" It has long rosettes that rise erect and are full of blooms-Rich
Appears the same as this picture, tenatively identified as a Male Platycheirus sp.
