First brug blooms EVER in Vossner's world

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

My EP is blooming and you can see it a mile away! I am so excited. At first I was little puzzed because flowers started yellow, to the point the I thought maybe the plant was mislabeled and it wasn't EP, but then, THIS! I am so excited. They don't smell, like everybody talks about--how come?

You can see chunky Maya in the background, still doing great. My collection now has EP, variegated suavolens cutting, Maya cutting, JP and a double white w/ velvety leaves (I don't know the name). That one should be blooming pretty soon.

How proud I am for you!!! Last year my "no name" didn't have any scent either, but I thought it was because it was a "no name".

BUT don't you just love the blooms, makes you smile and assures you all that time was worthwhile!!!

Vossner -- congrats on your blooms! Did you by any chance buy your "EP" on Ebay? I sure hate to be the one to break it to you, but your pretty brug is not EP. Its a Suaveolens -- a Frosty Pink look-alike. Here is a link to a gallery of EP's for you to see.

No matter what she is, she's pretty and she's blooming for you! She might even have a scent if you go out later in the evening.

No, I bought it at a private plant sale locally. And I don't mind the "news break", in fact I welcome it, how else can we learn? So thanks, Kaufman. I will ck the website to learn the difference.

Pretty blooms, but Gretchen is right. It's too bad you didn't get what you thought it was to be, but even good traders can make a mistake once in a while. If you purchased it, I would say it shouldn't have happened, but anything is possible. Then there are those who just don't know what they are selling. I hope you find the real thing.

Oh no .... I'm bidding on some Brugs on eBay, and won an Equador Pink last week which I haven't received yet. Ya mean I might not get what's advertised? Shame on them if that turns out to be the case.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

just checked the website and I agree this is not EP. Oh well, Frosty Pink is pretty, I am happy with it. Thanks again for setting me straight.

I didn't mean to mislead...there are some wonderful sellers on eBay, but there are also people who mis-represent what they have. The only reason I wrote that, is that last week someone had a brug for sale as that looked very similar to Vossner's, and it was advertized as 'Pink Floyd'. PF looks more like EP than FP. You just have to kind of know what you're doing and who you're doing it with on eBay. Good luck with the brug you purchased, mpabbott1!

Vossner -- you're welcome. It probably isn't FP, but a look-alike. FP has a wonderful scent in the evenings, and the longer you are involved with brugs, the more you'll realize how many look-alikes there are. The Good LORD willing, I'll have cuttings of FP and EP, and several other named pinks this fall. I haven't started a list yet, and I owe some people from last year already, but I'll be happy to share with you -- REMIND ME!!! I had a scare with TSWV last summer, so I didn't dare share cuttings until I knew my plants were healthy. So far so good :)

So Kauf, are you saying look-alikes don't have a scent? I will be out the next 2 nights, but Tuesday I will make it a point to smell in the evening and report back.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

No, not at all...

Sorry, I feel like I'm totally confusing you :(

Many brugs that are look-alikes a.k.a. un-named brugs, have wonderful scents. Some named brugs have little or no scent. The point I was trying to make is that the named brug 'Frosty Pink' is scented. There are probably hundreds of FP look-alikes and the only way to know for certain if a bug is a FP or a look-alike is a DNA test. I hope I'm making a little more sense.....

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Frosty is a common first brug. It does not disappoint, usually full of blooms and an easy one. Now you just need to find EP too.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I like the looks of Vossner's World, you can call her VW for short, instead of FP
LOL
Congratulations!!

Congrats on your first bloom, vossner!!! There is lots more fun on the way - just wait until your first seedling sprouts, grows leaves and Ys, and then buds and blooms, each step is as much fun as the first bloom and so exciting, with exception of the bugs, ugh!!! You're going to love it!!

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

thanks guys. I am thrilled w/ my "unpedigreed" brug. I shall love her the most.
Greenlife, I bought the plant in September and it doubled to the size you see in this pix.
