I bought a heliotrope from a nursery. I had it outside in it's pot and make sure it was moist and the ends began to wilt a little. I thought nothing of it really.
Then on the third day, I carefully took it out of it's pot and gently worked most of the soil off. Then I planted it in the ground, in full sun and watered... Our weather hasn't been very hot so I thought it would have time to adapt well before the heats sets in.
But the next day I went out to have a look and it looked completely different! Like it was clinging to life. The leaves were all browned, the flowers and buds fell off and it was all limp. I immediately watered with superthrive.
Not much has changed. What went wrong and what can I do?
Heliotrope, Help Needed!
Hi Michelle,
I have never had much luck with Heliotrope. They always end up leggy and weak for me. I just bet some of your trouble was the adjustment from greenhouse to your garden. Your soil maybe to cold for the transition and put it into shock. Sorry about your experience, hope it can be saved.
based from previous experience of growing Heliotrope, they are planted in shaded spot with nice rich soil. they are super picky and attracks aphids and other sucking bugs. although very picky, they are nice and fragrant. good luck.

Looks like I'll have to move it again. I'll first see how it does there and then move it if it looks burnt.
Well, it looks like it's recovering! I planted some seedlings next to it, they're all spindly and weak but I hope that growing in the ground will help them along.
