New to me....

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

I've had this for about a month now. I got it on eBay as ALOCASIA MACRORRHIZA ALBO VARIEGATA. It really seems to love it indoors. So now the question....what will happen when it goes outside? Will the white in the leaves scorch? Does it have to have full shade? Lots of water??? Does it love fertilizers? Any input will be greatly appreciated. I really like this little guy and want to give it what it needs! TIA

LOL. Do I have an eye or what. I saw this a little while ago on a group photo of yours and lusted after it immediately. I was hoping it was a $4.99 - 4 inch plant at your local nursery. LOL Tell me it was and they have more.

Ha!!! I wish! DH and I were just having a conversation about this plant. He has asked me many times how much I paid for it and I refuse to answer! LOLOL He would just have a FIT!!! He's wanting a Harley and if I tell him how much I spend on plants then he will have a good argument on getting his dream.

Cool plant Brinda. Yours is a lot bigger than mine, but I'll bet the price was too. LOL! Thanks for the info, Kyle. Maybe my puny little plant will still grow up to be big.

Funny story about that Alocasia...I had planted one and it disappeared...so I planted some Ctenanthes there. Later (3 months ago) I tore them out and LO and BEHOLD...up comes the Alocasia but not one...6 or 7.

Shhhh....Kell, don't tell.....please don't tell! LOL

Thanks everyone! Gee Carol....I'm praying that this one multiplies! I am so in love with it. I don't think I'd be sad to see many of them this summer. I'm just praying that I keep it alive.

Mine are growing in shade with filtered sun for a couple of hours in the late afternoon. It grows with my Clivia, variegated Raphis, Cochliostemma and some other alocasias...lots of water, fast draining soil. I wonder where it went for 2 years?

LOL

You might want to check Kell's back pockets, Carol! Knowing her, she probably flew over there and stole them. LOL

Mine was shipped yesterday, so I should receive it tomorrow. I will post a picture of it when I receive it. It is suppose to be in a 3 gal. pot. And beleive me shipping was a little expensive. But that is expected to be shipped in the pot of that size. So hopefully it will arrive in good condition.

Hmmmm Is this the same as the "Mickey Mouse Alocasia" Doesn't look like it.

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Is the Mickey Mouse variegated?

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Mickey Mouse Taro is "Xanthosoma albomarginata". It is not the same, but you can find the MM Taro here http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/48859/index.html . I love both of them!

It's a beauty also, I really do like variegated plants.
