HELP!! CAT POISONED. WON'T EAT.

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

The past few days, my cat has been lethargic, didn't want to go outside with me as usual, sleeps about 24 hrs a day, and won't eat. I took her to the vet yesterday who thinks she's gotten into something poison. Knowing I'm a plantaholic, his first assumption was one of my plants. But I've never seen her nibble on any of them. Of course I know she could have. But she roams outside all day, catching moles, voles and even birds. He said she doesn't have a disease. He's pretty sure she has a toxin in her system. Without expensive bloodwork (which I can't afford. Yesterday's visit cost me $70!), he can't know for sure, but he doesn't hold out any hope for her. Thinks she'll die.

Even if she doesn't die, he's fairly certain she'll be blind. Apparently this poison is affecting her central nervous system and is causing her retina's to separate. Yesterday, her eyes were almost completely black, like HUGE dilated pupils. You could barely see any gold. Today, the left eye is now almost completely gold, no pupil, with muddy streaks running thru it. It looks almost liquid.

She still has some sight in her right eye, but she staggers when she walks and is quite clumbsy, bumps into stuff, etc when she even gets up to move around. Mostly she just lays around and sleeps.

She's lost two pounds in the past week. She's quite skinny and weak. She won't eat. The vet said she wasn't dehydrated, which is good. I have seen her getting a drink. But she needs to eat something. Even the canned food she usually begs for is not appealing at all. She refuses to even eat a bite. I think if I can get her to eat, she might be ok. I've been just smearing the food on her mouth. You know they HAVE to lick it off. But I'm not getting enough in her. I tried the needle-less syringe that the vet gave me to give her antibiotics, but it doesn't work well. Do y'all have any suggestions? How can I get some food in her? I can't afford an IV and hospital stay for her. Do any of y'all have any experience with something like this? She's still alert and she'll fight me when I feed her. So I think she's strong and tough. I think she CAN make it, if I can just get her to eat.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
