If so, where do you grow it? What conditions does this vine need in TX? I'll be receiving a freebie Vigna caracalla with a recent Park's order, so I'm studying up!

Anyone growing snail vine locally?
I had one potted up while I tried to decide where to place it. The vine in the pot was quite scrawny with thin stems and it croaked before I got it planted. Don't know whether it was just a weak specimen or if I didn't give it enough attention (it was watered regularly.) Early on it did have a couple of blooms, but overall looked nothing like the vigorous plants I've seen that were well established. I hesitate to try again.
Hello, I have Carolina Snailseed vine, (cocculus carolinus )
This vine is a native and very easy to grow, it volunteered in my yard, but your vine could be a different one. Do you know the latin name?
Josephine.
Yup, Frostweed, it's vigna caracalla.

I noticed that several of those pics are from Dave, I think from when he was living in Kerrville.
I have one, I've had it since last year. I watered it too much last year and it didn't do too well, but this year it looks good. It's in mostly sun. Mine got rust last year too, but I'm spraying a preventative this year.(rust is bad down here, gets on beans and stuff)
I have one of Thomas Jeffersons' favorite Vine "The Corkscrew Vine" aka "Snail Vine" growing in full sun with my Climbing Rose "Teasing Georgia" I have had it there for 3 years this season..and I live just North of Conroe/Houston on Lake Conroe and it comes back every year...Hope this helps...Jeanne
Cool, Jeanne! Well, I'll have to put mine with the climbing rose too......that's a great idea and spot for me!
Thanks!
