You thoroughly embarrass me with your neatness. Wait until you see some more pictures of my mish-mosh of a garden.

What's the name of that red and white rock rose in the third picture that's so gorgeous I want to scream?

Here's a Lewisia picture that will amuse you. It's a tableful of Lewisias in my solarium, waiting patiently (I hope) to be repotted.

Another shot of some blooms....the hot pink is Lewisia 'Sunset Strain' - quite a bloomer....and very hardy

Not a rock garden plant but I just love this shrub, which no one can ID......oh well, I love it more every year and one day I will see one somewhere and know its name, but for now....I will just enjoy the mystery....;o)

There is a Pulsatilla vulgaris in the foreground in front of this shrub....LOL Now this pic belongs in this forum HaHa

Have a great day!!!

Your shrub looks like a Viburnum to me, but Todd probably will know what it is. That peony looks like it's going to be gorgeous.

"Sunset Strain" really is a fabulous Lewisia, isn't it? Yours is incredibly hearty. Do you fertilize it?

Jamie,

Your rock garden is lovely!

Keene, NH(Zone 5a)

nice garden space! both you and zuzu have found ways to raise these little rock garden plants up, either in troughs or raised beds, the better to see them!

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

The shrub does look like a Viburnum...V. carlesii or V X carlcephalum...commonly called the fragrant snowball. I really like the red pillar Berberis to the right of it.

My Beaver Creek and Mont Echo plants are still in their pots. I will be doing a workshop on container plantings for our local rock garden society come May 25 so I will use those new plants there. In the meantime, they are nicely tucked away in the coldframe. I was so impressed with beaver Creek that I just placed another order, mostly for various Cyclamen species.

Jamie, which Erodium is that? We are too cold here for most Erodiums. Yours is a cutie....and your lewisias are spectacular!

Hi Jamie,

How wanderful rock garden you have! The plants look like very happy and cute!
Seems like your Erodium is Erodium x variabile for me. I tried to grow it three times but I was not having any luck. Yours is so pretty:)
Thank you for sharing!

Todd, if you like Cyclamen africanum, be sure to order that from Beaver Creek. I ordered two of them and both of the plants he sent are beautiful.

Hi there All ~

Thanks to all of you for the kind words!! It is so much fun to share this hobby with others who truly enjoy it too. My family doesn't quite get it..LOL ;o)

Todd - yes, the shrub is a Viburnum, just have never figured out which one....will look at both of the ones you suggested when out at nurseries tomorrow...maybe one will be the same! The Erodium is called E. 'Bishop's Form', and blooms from spring thru to hard frost....one of the plants I can count on to be in color in summer in the rock garden....not enough of those..;)

Zuzu ~ 'Sunset' Lewisia is a bloomer isn't it....as far as fertilizer all my plants get Messenger once a month in the growing season, then I use compost tea, alfalfa pellet tea and an occasional dose of a good organic product from Dr. Earth with mycorrhizae, great soil microbes and many, many other goodies for plant and soil....thats what all my plants get in the rock garden, perennial beds, roses, lawn, trees & shrubs....everything. An occasional dose of lime, or aluminum sulfate if a plant has a pH issue, or I want to turn a Hydrangea blue LOL ;o) How was that for an over-answer??? If you are at all interested this link takes you to a site all about the Dr. Earth line. Just a good all around line of organics

OK, OK....enough out of me for now,

Thanks, Jamie, for your over-answer. In the meantime, you under-answered my other question, asked way up in this thread, with the picture of my Lewisias: What's the name of your red and white rock rose? Actually, maybe you never saw my question. I posted it while you were still in the middle of posting your pictures and you may have been preoccupied--like ships in the night...

Z~

I did miss that one....that is Helianthemum 'Raspberry Ripple', my favorite rock rose next to a pink double I got last year in trade. It is on page 49 of the eyewitness book you encouraged me to buy...;0)

Jamie - that garden looks good. I love your raised beds. You seem to have a nice mix of alpines and other perennials. The viburnum and pulsatilla look great. Thanks for sharing.

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi Jamie--loved looking at your interesting collection of alpines. You have been able to coax some beautiful bloom from your plants this spring--it must be wonderful to enjoy them 'up close and personal'--I can only wish for that!

Thanks too for giving us the run down on what you feed your plants---will have to look up Dr. Earth and all of the nutrients you mentioned.

Thanks for posting pics of your alpine specimens--I look forward to seeing more and their progress. t.

Tabasco,
While my first love is growing my plants, my second love is photographing them to share here...so I thank you for sharing in them with me!! ;o)

And yes, do look into Dr. Earth products....some of the best out there I think!

Have a great day!
Jamie
