I have a silly question on Hibiscus

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Well, not silly for me, because I really don't know a thing about them, but have some started from seed.

Can I grow these in pots and over-winter indoors? Are they an annual, or will the same plant keep coming back to bloom for me every year if I over-winter it?

Thanks for any info!

the person who sent them to me just labeled them as "dark pink", "cherry red" and I think "red" or "pink". No clue otherwise.

But based on what you are saying, they will over-winter no matter what if you bring them in a greenhouse or sunroom? Lucky you - you are 5a and can have them outside in the winter. I doubt mine are like that - mine were sent to me from the South.

i believe that there is quite a diffence in the leaf shape of the tropical and the hardy....post some pics of the leaves or the flowers and im sure someone will be able to tell if they are hardy or tropical

good luck

"dark pink", "cherry red" and "pink" are all descriptions of hardy hibiscus seeds I've purchased on eBay over the last several months. (I was just telling my husband last night, "At least I won't have to put those in the hoop house this winter.")

About leaf shape and being tropical or hardy check out this thread I started last year http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/470195/

Right now I just have one seedling - so it will be awhile before I post any pics. I sowed these seeds about 2 weeks ago and heard they germinate fast. So who knows - I may only end up with one - and that's the dark pink.
