I just took Merlin in yesterday to be clipped for the summer. His tummy was already shaved from his surgery, and also areas on his arm and under his neck where the IV's were. To make things worse, he was so pitiful and sore after his surgery, that for a long period of time, we didn't have the heart to make him endure being brushed. As a result, he was all tangled up, with some patchy shaved spots. Since its not going to be long until it's really hot here in TX. We decided to have him sheared for the summer.
Now I have to tell you, that he's like a different cat. He's playing, and running, and free. I feel kind of bad, making him have all that long hair that I liked, when he clearly feels better like this. No matter, though. By the time it's cool weather again, he'll have his long hair back, so I guess we can have the best of both worlds...bald and free for him in the summer, long and beautiful for me in the winter. lol
