The wind has been blowing all week, pretty high winds. My poor brug flowers look all beaten up and my Poinciana tree is losing limbs!
Is anyone else having high winds?
It has been really windy here all week!!!
We have had them too - they haven't improved the Iris at all!!
We started the weel with nice breezes that got more and more strong. The cold front came last night and seems to be sitting right here. We're having scattered t-storms today, and are under a wind advisory all day.
10 o'clock, and it's only 53 degrees!! (High expected is only 64.)
Blasted winds...........and yes, to answer your question, they've been here too. Blew my 6 ft. Euryops standard right over!!
=/ MKJ
Very windy here, but I am hoping for badly needed rain. It has been the driest April since sometime in the 1800s. Oops, my husband just came in and said I left the back hydrant running full blast all night ... can't tell him that it was on all Friday afternooon too. Well, so much for my water conservation. I had been holding off watering my grass all week waiting for rain and now I have wasted all that water which could have watered the grass. Duh ... don't want to see my water bill next month. It sure has been a strange April and is so cool outside that it is hard to believe.
Brrrr it was chilly this morning at 52. But the winds are calmed down a bit and the sun is slowly peeking out!
It's only 70 here, and the wind is terrible, it's bending the trees. It is cloudy, looked like rain but none so far. We are dry too, driest spring in years and the wind just sucks the water right out of the plants.
My neighbor left his water on by accident. He'd been not watering his grass to save water, then left the hose run all night! I have resaca water, I pay a fee for it but much less than city water. I told him to just attach to my pump and do something with his dry grass, lol, it's getting dirt in my pool!
March was rainy (April Showers), this month came in with wind and today they have been gale force (March, in like a lion out like a lamb), as well as been dry. Then tonight it's also suppose to be in the 50's!?!?
Weird weather!
But my plants are loving it!! I don't remember my mums ever blooming in the spring before this year.
It definitely has been a longer Spring than usual. It's nice to enjoy the cooler temps in the evening (even the day) before the "rot" sets in for the Summer, but it's going to get down to 44 tonight!! Yikes! I guess that's not too low for the strawberries.
The strawberries can take quite a bit of cold, shouldn't hurt them. It's supposed to go down to 60 or so tonight, it's already cooled off a lot. I love it, I opened the windows! It was 95 yesterday, one of the hottest days this year. We usually don't get 90's till much later.
