We just lost our puppy to parvo. She was a stray that came into my inlaws back yard near thier pond. She was as cute as could be, but she had been abused. Someone had shot her, she was slit in her lip that made her look like she had an eternal smirk on her face. Her paws were cut up, and she was just tiny. We took her in and fed her, and she became beautiful and so sweet. Never strayed from the yard and loved the kids. Two nights ago, we couldn't find her though, searched the entire yard and everything. I thought she had run off.
We found her yesterday. She had went under the porch, and was near dead. Skin and bones and wouldn't eat or drink. I had been leaving food out and water out for her every day, and every day it was gone. We now think the neighboors dogs were coming over here and eating it. I tried force feeding her, placing food in her mouth and closing it hopeing that she would eat. She just let it roll of her tounge, and wouldn't get up.
We found out that she had parvo. Something I had never heard about. We had given her worming shots and all since we live on a farm, but I never knew how devastating parvo was. She died last night in her sleep. I don't know who cried more, my husband or me.
The girls still don't know, we didn't want them to see thier puppy in the condition that she was in. Its horrible. So if any of you aquire a new puppy, get the parvo shot. Because if they get this horrible virus, it does so cruel to them.
Parvo.
