Passiflora belotii

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

I was looking for maypops because I didn't want to carry a pot every year to the new trellis, but I found this blooming in a local nursery and I fell in love.

If I can't winter it over, I may just hafta buy one every year! What do other northern gardeners do?

This is one of my favorites. Last year I let mine go to Des Moines with a friend. I hope I can get a start of it again from him. It roots fairly easily in water and is the only passiflora that I've had good luck rooting. It smells good too. I've always just kept a cutting going in my East window for spring planting. You will get lots of enjoyment from this one.

Thanks for the info, Brugie! Right now it's outside on the porch, getting used to the cool nights and the flowers aren't opening all the way. By the end of May, I will plant it in a light weight pot and bring it up the hill to a trellis.
