I like the way it's mounted, almost like it were growing out of the wall.
Thanks Captmicha: Brick is a nice nutural backgound for a photo - it's mounted on a tree fern slab.
Do you mist it daily or does it get enough moisture? I wish I could grow them like that here in MD!
Why the roots of Orchids are bare?
If mounted, the roots will grow in the air. These are terrestrial orchids. Even if you pot them, their roots will often grow up and out of the pot. In the wild, they grow on trees.
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! very interesting. Beautiful plant.

We have loads of humidity here in Florida but do water it twice a week during the winter months. Once our rainy season begins (late May) they are on their own outdoors for the summer with just an occasional fertilizer application - rain water alone has quite a few nutrients
That's awesome! I'd just love being able to grow orchids in trees like they're in the wild.

Andy's Orchids!!! He sells them just like that. As a matter of fact, I have almost the very same plant on a tree fern slab, mine came from Andy's a few years ago and it is budding right now. Revlar, your nice plant is way ahead of mine.
Michelle, go for it!! This is as close as it gets to growing Orchids attached to a tree.
I'm hearing a lot of good things about Andy's Orchids. I'm going to have to look into his orchids.
