If you are interest in this OptiVISOR, Optical Glass Binocular Magnifer, I'm sure you will be able to find it on the internet, I got mine from our Vet. OptiVISORs are use for close up work of all kinds; cross-stictch, watch repair, drafting, etc.
Now I can check these Brugs for insects and easily identify any I might find.

I have used a magnifier with my cavys trying to read the tags. With it on my head I can hold the guinea pig with one hand and the tag with the other. I got mine at Hobby Lobby a crafts store in the Counted Needlepoint area for fine work. It is kinda neat, has a hinge and you can leave your glasses on and hinge it up or down to use it. I think it comes with two different lenses and you can purchase more up to 7x. But, yes, you do look kinda silly, but on the other hand, you can see what you need to see. I have never thought to use it with the plants, thanks for the idea.

Crafts, etc is the catalog version of Hobby Lobby if you dont' have one near. Wow, look at all those magnifiers, might find something I like more.
The picture below is one of the pigs I have used the magnifiers on and you can't even see the tag. It is tiny way up on the ear, and the numbers on it are even smaller.

(Notice his front paws. He had an accident which damaged his spine. When we got him he was flat on the floor pulling himself around by his front paws. My wonderful DH gave him physical therapy and taught him how to walk again!!!)

I love the glasses! I am toying with the idea of getting a miner's hat because I like to garden at night (out of necessity due to the need to work :-{)
Now I'm thinking if I have BOTH, there isn't anythin I couldn't do out there at night. Of course my kids will probably stop talking to me...
Sometimes the kids not talking to you isn't so bad, and it is nice and quiet.
Very becoming, Judy! I borrowed a pair of those to do bead projects. When my son walked up behind me and I looked at him, he rolled on the floor laughing! My DH put little flashlights on the glasses and it made them so much more attractive.
