Black magic taro waking up.

After a very short winters rest, they are waking up in my pond.

I bought some of this and it's nice and healthy looking but yours is a better color of black. Maybe mine is in too much sun? What do you think?

Mine gets full sun. One year, I decided to bring them in for the winter. The leaves turned green! Then when I took them back outside they turned black again.

Hmmm, this requires further research. I want nice black leaves! They were black when I bought them, but they are greenish black now. Hmmmm.

Pixy,
That greening due to not enough sun.
They get their best color in high heat and full sun.

Also until the weather cools off treat them as bog plants.
We grow ours in containers set in water till temps hit the 50's during the day.

Henry,
Thanks for the info. My Taro is in a little aerated swimming pool with the other water plants until the pond is finished. Maybe the problem is we just haven't had enough sun! It should be getting full sun where it is, but with the weather we've had lately, 'full sun' is something of a misnomer!
Thanks to you, and thanks Rylaff for posting your great photo!
